MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites has not only brought back some of our most loved contestants but introduced us to 12 new talented home cooks. Throughout the series, the 24 cooks have poured their heart and soul into the competition, serving up plates of delicious food to the judges.
And of course, no season of MasterChef Australia would be complete without the camaraderie and heartwarming friendships seen on-screen, and we’ve been given plenty of that too.
Everyone who has entered the kitchen this year has their own story to tell, and a food dream they wish to accomplish. While some, such as former winners Sashi Cheliah and Billie McKay, are already in the midst of achieving their goals, others are just starting out.
But despite the feel-good nature of the show, MasterChef Australia is a competition at the end of the day, and that means every week, two people are sent home.
Judges Melissa Leong, Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo have the difficult task of choosing who those two contestants will be — but who knows, maybe they may return to the kitchen in the next few years?
“My judging style is, I definitely don’t beat around the bush,” Zonfrillo told POPSUGAR Australia. “If it’s not good, I tell them why it’s not good, but I also give them constructive feedback.”
He continued: “Giving negative feedback is a huge part of your growth on MasterChef, and it’s how you end up being a better cook, whether it’s in the MasterChef kitchen or in the industry.”
