Drew Barrymore Says She’s “Not Open to a Relationship” at the Moment

Barrymore and Feldman went on their very first date when “The Goonies” star was 12 or 13 and Barrymore was 10 or 11, per Entertainment Tonight. Recalling their first date during an appearance on Barrymore’s talk show in January 2023, Feldman said, “I get a call one day, my grandmother says, ‘We got a call from Steven [Spielberg]’s office and the little girl from ‘E.T.’ wants to meet you because she’s got a crush on you.'”

He said they had “a cute little playdate,” adding that they were so young at the time that they had to have adults drive them to the movies. “It was so cute. I remember taking you to the movies. I remember exactly which movie theater it was,” Feldman said. “You put your little hand up for me to hold. And that was the first. And after that we stayed friends. It was years after that that we actually dated.”

Feldman and Barrymore attended the 1989 Oscars together and dated until April 1990.

After splitting from Feldman, Barrymore had a brief romance with the actor from April to September 1990, per People.

Barrymore dated Hayward III, the grandson of legendary Hollywood agent Leland Hayward, in 1991, according to People. They were briefly engaged before they eventually called it quits.

Barrymore dated Arquette for a few months in 1991 just eight years before they played siblings in “Never Been Kissed,” per Us Weekly.

Shortly after breaking things off with Arquette, Barrymore began dating his friend, actor Corin Nemec, in 1992, per People.

According to Us Weekly, she struck up a romance with the singer-actor in March 1992. They were also briefly engaged until breaking up in November 1993.

In February 1994, Barrymore fell for a British bartender turned LA bar owner named Jeremy Thomas. They got married in March 1994. “Usually people live together first and then get married,” Barrymore told People at the time. “I guess we’re doing it the old-fashioned way. Kind of.”

The couple broke up 19 days after tying the knot and their divorce was finalized in 1995, per People.

Shortly after her divorce, Barrymore began a relationship with the Hole guitarist. They attended the premiere of her film “Batman Forever” in 1995 but eventually called it quits in 1996, according to People.

While filming “Best Men” and “Home Fries” together in 1996, Barrymore fell in love with Wilson. The following year, she told People, “From the moment I saw him, I realized he was the most incredible person I’d ever been so fortunate to meet.” They split two years later.

You may remember Barrymore’s relationship with comedian Tom Green. The two hit things off in early 2000 and, after a failed stunt wedding on “Saturday Night Live,” they tied the knot in the South Pacific in March 2001, per People. Green filed for divorce nine months later citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Barrymore struck up a romance with The Strokes drummer in 2002 and the two dated until 2007. In 2004, she told People that their romance was “the most positive relationship” she had ever been in.

After ending things with Moretti, Barrymore began dating the director. The two were together from March to June 2007, per People.

Barrymore began dating the fellow actor in 2008, according to People. The couple starred together in two films, “Going the Distance” and “He’s Just Not That Into You,” before they ended things in October 2010.

In 2011, Barrymore began dating her longtime friend, art consultant Kopelman. The two got engaged in December 2011 and tied the knot six months later at their Montecito, CA, home surrounded by family and friends, including Jimmy Fallon, Busy Philipps, Cameron Diaz, and more. Barrymore, who was pregnant with the couple’s first daughter, Olive, stunned in a Chanel gown.

The couple welcomed Olive just three months after their wedding and went on to have another daughter, Frankie, in August 2015. They announced their plans to divorce in April 2016 after nearly four years of marriage and in a statement said, “Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on.” Since their split, Barrymore has opened up about her “tough time,” saying, “It’s so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately. It’s like you’re being put on a cheese grater and every second going, ‘Ah! This wasn’t the plan!'”

Speaking to Vulture in June 2023, Barrymore briefly reflected on her relationship with Kopelman, saying she sold her house in LA and moved to New York to be closer to Kopelman’s family during their time together. “I think that’s why I took the marriage so hard,” she said. “Because I was the best I could have ever been.”
