Tones and I Has Released Her Debut Album, Welcome to the Madhouse, and We Feel Right at Home
Tones and I is one of the hottest musical acts to come out of Australia in recent years, with the now global superstar being ranked as the “No.1 Songwriter On Streaming Services Last Year.”
From the streets of Byron Bay to the set of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Tones and I has proven herself to be an undeniable force in music, which is why we have been so anxiously awaiting her debut record.
Happily, the day has now come with the release of the singer’s first full-length EP, Welcome to the Madhouse.
The latest single from the album, ‘Cloudy Day’, has already clocked upwards of 20 million total streams and has received critical acclaim from Variety which called the track “the perfect pandemic anthem”.
In a press statement, Tones and I said of the 14 songs on the record, “This album for me is very up and down and reflects the forever changing emotions in me. There are songs on the album that were written before ‘Dance Monkey’, about not knowing if busking was right for me.
“There are songs about my good friend T passing away and not wanting to deal with those emotions. The ups and downs of life in lockdown and the mental challenges/struggles.
“Some songs make me laugh and some make me cry but there is no running theme or vibe to the album – the songs are unique to how I was feeling the day I wrote them.”
The singer, who came to international attention with her hit single ‘Dance Monkey’ in 2019, is originally from the Mornington Peninsula, but headed to Byron Bay in early 2018 to take a chance at busking. As we all know, it didn’t take long for audiences both locally and abroad to recognise the young performer’s talent and she has been in demand since.
‘Dance Monkey’ holds the all-time record for the most weeks spent at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, while the official music video has been viewed more than 1.6 billion views on YouTube.
Welcome to the Madhouse is now available on all streaming platforms.
