Where the “Ultimatum: Queer Love” Couples Stand After the Explosive Reunion
If you thought “The Ultimatum: Queer Love” wouldn’t be as explosive as the inaugural season of Netflix’s ultimatum dating series, guess again. The all-women and nonbinary people installment of “The Ultimatum” kicked off on May 24 with five couples looking for clarity about their relationships – and whether or not they were marriage material. But by the end of the season finale and reunion, which both aired on June 7, there was much more to consider after a myriad of hookups, breakups, fiery arguments, and unexpected connections.
As suggested in the show’s title, “The Ultimatum” brings couples together who are at a crossroads, with one partner ready to jump the broom and the other plagued with doubt. While one individual issues, of course, an ultimatum about getting married or breaking up, the real twist to the dating experiment is the chosen couples having to swap partners for a trial marriage – a test to see how strong their original relationships are and who wants to explore romance elsewhere.
Each couple – Lexi and Raelyn, Sam and Aussie, Xander and Vanessa, Mal and Yoly, and Mildred and Tiff – risked it all this season after their new connections threatened their pre-experiment realities. While some did agree to take the next step in their relationships in the finale, many of those pairings crumbled following shocking updates at the reunion, which has many viewers wondering who stayed together, who broke up, and where the cast stands with each other after a season of spats.

Are Lexi and Raelyn From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
Lexi and Raelyn had quite the journey this season. Their love story was filled with plenty of ups and downs – from the “fingergate” scandal with Vanessa to moments that threatened to break them up for good. It seemed as though they were finally on the same page after Ultimatum Day in the season finale, though, which ended with them both proposing to one another. They appeared to still be together at the reunion but, according to Tudum, the pair split shortly after.
It’s unclear what exactly caused their final breakup, but Lexi – who was paired with Mal during the season – told the outlet that Raelyn is “just not the right person for what I want” as a life partner. “There’s absolutely love there. There was a friendship there. There was respect there, and I will always maintain that,” she added. “There’s no bad blood, and I want nothing but the best for her. It’s sad and bittersweet that she’s like a distant cousin right now, but I hope there’s a way to become friends at some point.”
Meanwhile, Raelyn said although people have been messaging her since the couple’s breakup to check on her, she’s responding with, “‘Yeah, actually it all worked out the way it should.'” “At first, it was hard just in how it all happened, but when you exit a relationship, the veil comes off and you’re able to look at the dynamic a bit more,” she added in her conversation with Tudum. According to her, the two were “good at the reunion, and then afterwards we were still rehashing things.” However, she said Lexi’s new career, lifestyle change, and their own differences contributed to the split. They’ve since gone their separate ways, seemingly only having a distant friendship.
Raelyn is currently single, while Lexi has found a new love since “The Ultimatum: Queer Love” ended. “I found somebody that gives me all of the love and happiness I felt with Mal, mixed with an intimacy that we’re exploring,” she told Tudum. “That’s truly what I always wanted when I knew my relationship with Rae was ending – somebody that made me feel the way I felt when I was with Mal and we were walking around San Diego calling each other our wives.”
Are Xander and Vanessa From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
It’d be an understatement to say Xander and Vanessa’s relationship was put through the wringer. The two each connected with other cast members during their trial marriage; Vanessa with Raelyn and Xander with Yoly. At one point, it seemed like the latter’s connection had gotten serious, but Xander actually chose not to stay with Vanessa by the end of the season. It was a tough breakup in the season finale that resulted in some tears, followed by more at the reunion when the two rehashed their differences and decided to stay broken up for good. However, it seems they’re still not on good terms.
Speaking to Tudum, Xander said Vanessa is “not someone that I would call a trusted, stable, reliable friend” today. Though they shared a “beautiful moment” at the reunion to open the door to a possible friendship, Xander said it didn’t feel totally genuine. “We didn’t talk all year, and then she reached out to me two weeks before the reunion,” Xander recalled. “After the reunion, it was just like, poof, she was gone. It felt like her intentions again were not in the right place and not in my best interest.”
Vanessa, meanwhile, tried to have another serious relationship after the show, and though it’s since ended, she told Tudum, “It was beautiful to realize I could fall in love again.” She added, “I struggled for a long time. I was single, sad, and crying every day, so to find myself again and to be able to fall in love with someone else was a really reaffirming experience.”
Xander and Vanessa are both currently single.
Are Mal and Yoly From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
Mal and Yoly also had a tumultuous relationship amongst the “Ultimatum: Queer Love” couples – one that blew up majorly during the reunion. Of course, the two found connections during the season: Mal formed a platonic bond with Lexi, while Yoly got into an intense romance with Xander. Despite these connections and their different views about marriage and the future, Mal proposed to Yoly in the season finale, which she accepted after asking, “What took you so long?”
As many expected, though, their engagement didn’t last very long, as viewers learned at the reunion that they broke up shortly after the season wrapped. They got into a heated debate about their split and how long the engagement lasted, with Mal citing the way they each deal with conflict as the cause of their demise. “I think against both of our, I don’t know, standards that we have for ourselves and just morally misaligned and so morally and fundamentally, completely misaligned,” she told People. “We just didn’t handle conflict [in] a way that I think either one of us appreciated. That was for me. I can’t speak for her, but for me.”
Yoly also added of their breakup, “I just wish we would’ve been able to talk about it as things were going on so that it wasn’t so much of a explosion after filming, but it was just a matter of we couldn’t have conversations about what went on between me and Xander.” She continued, “We couldn’t talk about the show. There was just a lot of things we couldn’t talk about without it turning into an argument. It was not healthy. We were not bringing out the best of each other and it was just not the best choice. It was really apparent.”
According to Tudum, the two exes are currently not on speaking terms, but Mal says she still “loves [Yoly] to death.” Yoly added, “The love is there and the care is there, but it’s just a matter of trying to navigate what to do with all of that.”
Are Xander and Yoly From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
As far as Xander and Yoly’s whirlwind, three-week love affair, it ran its course by the end of the season. Though the two repeatedly expressed their deep love for one another, Yoly decided to say yes to Mal’s marriage proposal and broke things off with Xander for good in the finale in an emotional split. Though they still appear to be on good terms, the two didn’t enter a full-blown relationship following the season or reunion.
According to Xander, their connection “wasn’t hitting the same way” once they were out of the experiment and both single. “Our time had passed,” Xander told Tudum, adding that she also had to process some “unresolved anger” about their situation. “I want someone to choose me. I don’t want to feel like you tried out this thing with Mal and then now you’re going to come back and try this thing with me,” she explained. “It wasn’t sitting well with me.”
Still, the two keep in touch. “We’re cool and check in with each other,” Yoly told Tudum, adding, “Xander is a wonderful person and would make a wonderful wife and a mother, but I’m just being protective [of] myself” at the moment.
Are Mildred and Tiff From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
Of all the “Ultimatum: Queer Love” couples, Mildred and Tiff had the most volatile relationship, which even got violent at one point, according to them. The pair, who did get engaged in the finale, had an explosive exchange at the reunion in which they confirmed they were no longer together. The two cited their “unhealthy” and “tumultuous” relationship as the cause of their split – but that’s not all. They also revealed that they got into a heated fight right before their breakup, during which Mildred threw a pet gate at Tiff. She was then arrested. Things got so intense at the reunion that Tiff even left the stage after feeling gaslit by their former partner.
Speaking to People about their fallout, Tiff shared, “I do wish [Mildred] nothing but happiness.” They continued, “Obviously, we’re not meant for each other. I think the way I can best sum up that whole reunion [is] there’s a lot of personal things that have happened within her family and a lot of things that completely go against my morals.”
Tiff confirmed to Tudum that they’re no longer in touch with Mildred. It’s unclear where the latter stands but on June 7, she posted a message on Instagram following the reunion and wrote, “Ok, I just naturally call people out . . . I’m just learning how to deliver. I’m learning to use my voice after being in a very emotionally abusive relationship. I’m learning calmness even when being emotionally abused so I can properly speak and express discomfort.” That same day, in her Instagram Story, she noted she’s currently “finding healing” after her time on the show and split from Tiff.
Are Sam and Aussie From "The Ultimatum: Queer Love" Still Together?
Sam and Aussie, surprisingly, have the most drama-free update following the season. Despite a roller-coaster journey, the two stuck it out and got engaged in the season finale. And good news for fans who hoped to see at least one couple make it through the experiment without any major breakups: the two were still together at the reunion and have remained that way since.
Sam revealed to Tudum that the couple’s secret was, “We came first, and then the relationship came second.” “If it was meant to be, then we’ll come back together, but we put everything in it for our own journeys and healing,” she added. Meanwhile, Aussie said they’ve fallen “even more in love” with Sam since the conclusion of the show. “I really am so lucky to be with this person.”
For now, the two have not set a date to walk down the aisle, but told Tudum, “We’re slowly getting there.” “I just have so much groundwork that I’m doing with my life that that’s kind of taken priority,” Aussie explained, with Sam adding that their healing journeys are “so much more of a commitment than just having a wedding.” However, they do know which cast members they plan to invite to the wedding: Tiff and Vanessa.
