Brie Larson Teases The Marvels Is “Really Juicy” and We're Ready – Here's Everything We Know
The Marvels is officially underway! During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, actress Brie Larson confirmed that she is currently filming the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel. Though she didn’t reveal too much about the film’s actual plot, she did tease that there is “a lot of really juicy things happening.” So make of that what you will! While most details about the film are being kept under wraps, what we do know is that it will have a star-studded cast and an incredible creative team. Here’s hoping the cast give us more glimpses of filming on set. In the meantime, read ahead for everything we know about the anticipated Marvel film.
The Marvels Cast
A handful of MCU stars from other projects will be starring in the upcoming film. Brie Larson is reprising her role as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson will be back as Nick Fury, WandaVision star Teyonah Parris will return as Monica Rambeau, and newcomer Iman Vellani will play Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel. Zawe Ashton is also part of the cast, though her role hasn’t been disclosed yet.
The Marvels Plot
We have very limited details about the film, but based on what the cast have teased, it sounds exciting. Most recently, Larson noted that “a lot of really juicy things” are happening in the film that she “cannot say a word about.” “But, boy oh boy, is it good,” she added. “You’re going to be very excited about it.”
It also seems like the film will explore the dynamic between Parris’s Monica and Larson’s Carol Danvers that was teased on WandaVision. “Yes, when Monica was an 11-year-old girl, with her uom and Auntie Carol, they had a beautiful relationship,” Parris told ComicBook.com. “And so I think what’s been awesome with WandaVision is getting to see Monica grow up, and we haven’t seen her for 20 years plus, or however many, and getting to see slowly, it’s being revealed what her life has been since we last saw her. And so Carol Danvers was a part of her life when we last saw her, and seeing that there is still, there is something there, I think is very exciting.” She added that the Captain Marvel sequel “gives us space to further explore what might be happening” between the two characters.
The Marvels Creative Team
Nia DaCosta, the director of the upcoming horror film Candyman, will direct The Marvels, making her the first Black woman and fourth woman to direct a Marvel Studios picture.
The Marvels Release Date
In August 2021, Larson confirmed that filming for the sequel was underway. The film is slated to premiere on Nov. 11, 2022.
