After what’s been months of hammering, painting and tearing down walls, the winner for this year’s season of The Block has finally been revealed. Five teams were given the task of transforming a house in a cul-de-sac located in the affluent beachside suburb of Hampton in Melbourne, and boy did they deliver.
Drama, chaos and arguments ensued, but everyone managed to get the job done — but only one can take home the grand prize. Mitch and Mark’s lavish property made the most amount of profit when it went up for auction, with the pair making a whopping $644,444.44.
Coming fifth in their first season, the win marks a huge moment for the couple, as their house sold for a cool $4,044,444.44. For their hard work, not only did Mitch and Mark take home the profits from the auction, but also $100,000 in prize money.
“We never had expectations or even hopes for that amount,” Mitch told Who. “This changes our lives as we’ve got a mortgage that we can’t jump over, but with this prize, we can take a great leap at it now.”
Mark added: “I think we’re in shock as we stuck to our guns about what we thought a family home was about and it was a big risk.”
The latest season of the hit renovation show has been a roller coaster, to say the least, with cheating accusations and arguments happening left, right and centre. But tonight’s finale proved that at the end of the day, it’s all about hard work and persistence.
Each team put up a beautiful home, complete with stunning bathrooms, luxurious closets and even a theatre room. It’s been an intense few months, but the 10 contestants made it to auction day.
This is how much profit each team made:
- Ronnie and Georgia: $296,000.00
- Mitch and Mark: $644,444.44 + $100,000
- Tanya and Vito: $400,000.01
