It’s only been a few days since Bachelorette Brooke Blurton announced the tragic passing of her sister, and now, the 26-year-old has taken to Instagram to thank those who have shown support.
On Monday evening, Brooke posted a photo of a bouquet of yellow flowers.
“Thank you for everyone that has sent messages. It really means a lot,” she wrote.
“As much as the circumstance sucks, I feel very grateful and very lucky.”
Brooke shared the devastating news on Saturday.
“I’ve been trying to process that on my own being stuck in a Sydney lockdown without my family, off country and by myself,” she said in an Instagram Story, saying that The Bachelorette production team did everything in their power to get her a G2G pass, so she could be with her family during this difficult time.
“I truly believe in life that when there comes good, comes bad. This felt like one of those moments, but I can’t believe the huge support I’ve had,” she said.
“I feel, honestly, so grateful. I wouldn’t be coping if it wasn’t for production, my friends, my loved ones and (my dog) Cobar.”
“Just to say… I know we’re all doing it pretty friggen rough with the current world climate. Though look to the sky and lift your head up. We will get through this.”
Brooke had a tumultuous life growing up. She was one of five siblings, and with her father not around, she was forced to witness her older sister live with schizophrenia and her mum battle a drug addiction.
“I figured out that the way that I lived wasn’t exactly normal when my brothers and I went into foster care. We were treated well in care and that became the comparison that helped me to develop expectations,” she told NW.
“That doesn’t go to say that my family didn’t love me, I did have a loving family but my mum just struggled to provide us with what we needed. There were socio-economic environmental factors that affected us.”
She has now returned back home to Perth, where she is currently undertaking mandatory quarantine before reuniting with her family.
