Another day, another TikTok trend, and this is one we can definitely get behind. Smiley face slippers have been appearing in hordes of social media posts, with the hashtag racking up 2.8 million views on TikTok. We especially love it when style meets comfort, but it’s this unlikely celebrity spot that has really got us excited about cosy footwear.
We are so used to seeing Victoria Beckham wearing sky-high stilettos that her latest Instagram post stopped us mid-scroll. Wearing a pair of striped pyjamas paired with the viral smiley face slippers in white and pink, the former Spice Girl poses with her friend, Eva Longoria. Captioning the photo with “Just two desperate housewives having a catch up” while sitting with tea cups, and accessorising with oversize sunnies, proves Beckham even knows how to make loungewear look classy.
And she isn’t the only celebrity to have embraced happy feet. Kristen Stewart was spotted out in New York wearing a pair of black and yellow smiley face slippers back in November, although the “Spencer” actress caused controversy by choosing to wear the house slippers on the street. Whether you opt to wear them with chic matching PJs or with ripped jeans, this is footwear that has achieved unlikely style status.

The smiley face symbol has been having a moment of late as the cult Ganni T-shirt ($131.13) has also been making waves on Instagram. Perhaps we all need a little dopamine dressing as we emerge from the pandemic. Outfits that smile must rub off on the wearers, right?
While it’s unclear where exactly Beckham and Stewart purchased their own smiley face slippers, many TikTok users have bagged them from Amazon for as little as $21.96. Available from a number of sites in an array of colour combinations including pink, yellow, blue, and grey, they are the answer to making summer garden chats comfy and cool. Read on to see how TikTok users wear them and where you can bag your own pairs.
