Jack Quaid
Variety reported on Sept. 1 that the star of The Boys had been cast in the production. There’s no word on his role as of yet.
Jenna Ortega
Deadline announced that the You star joined production on Aug. 19, though her role is still under wraps.
Courteney Cox
On July 31, the Friends alum announced on Instagram she would be joining Arquette in the upcoming film, reprising her role as dogged news reporter Gale Weathers. “I can’t wait to see this face again,” she wrote in a vide that flashed that Ghostface Killer’s infamous mask.
David Arquette
Arquette was the first official member of the cast, with news of his return breaking on May 18. “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” he said in a statement. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.”
Neve Campbell
Campbell will be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott. “Hello again, Sidney… #ImBack,” she confirmed on Instagram in September.
Matthew Lillard
Lillard is known for portraying Stu Macher in the first film, where his character was famously killed by Sidney Prescott. But in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Good Girls actor revealed the small tidbit that would allow him to (happily) reprise the role.
“It was originally conceived that Stu was running a collection of kids in high school that did horrible things,” Lillard said, explaining how the original shooting script for Scream 3 revealed that Stu had survived and had been living in secret. But when the Columbine High School shooting occurred right before the film went into production, the plans were scrapped when. But Lillard is still down for a comeback!
“I would love to come back,” he said. “Actors, for the most part, most of us are out here tap dancing as fast as we can to feed our families and get jobs. So if there was a chance to come back, that made sense, yes.”
