Jack Black Is Planning a “School of Rock” Cast Reunion For the Film’s 20th Anniversary

Jack Black is set to rock out again to celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of his most iconic movies, “School of Rock.” In an April 1 interview with “Entertainment Tonight” on the “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” red carpet, Black revealed he’s eager to reunite with the all-grown-up cast of the film, and his plans are nothing short of grand.

“All those kids – dig this – they were 10 years old when we made that movie and now they’re all, like, 30,” Black told ET. “We’re gonna get together and have a 20-year anniversary. We like to jam. I’m looking forward to seeing all of the grownups from ‘School of Rock.'”

The hit 2003 film follows a down-on-his-luck rock guitarist who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school to make ends meet after he gets kicked out of his band. But when he discovers his fourth-grade students’ musical talents, he forms a rock band with them to compete in a battle of the bands competition.

Besides becoming a box office hit and inspiring a stage musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the movie notably served as a launchpad for child star Miranda Cosgrove, who played the role of Summer Hathaway – the strict and sarcastic class factotum turned band manager. She went on to become a Nickelodeon staple in the hit 2007 show “iCarly,” which got rebooted in 2021.

“School of Rock” remains one of Black’s most fulfilling roles. In April 2022, he told “ET,” “My best memories are just that group of kids and how funny and great they were. It’s definitely the highlight of my career, I can say that. Honestly.”

Fans of the classic movie won’t miss out, as Black promised “ET” he would “100 percent” upload videos from the reunion to social media. We’ll definitely be glued to our phone screens in the months leading up to “School of Rock”‘s 20th anniversary in September for more details.
