Scarlett Johansson had a lot of fun filming her new movie, Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City.” But someone who had more fun? Her son, Cosmo.
Johansson and husband Colin Jost welcomed Cosmo in August 2021, and “Asteroid City” was filmed in the fall of that year, when Cosmo was a baby. “I actually wasn’t popular, it was just the baby,” Johansson told People about being part of the ensemble cast in an article published June 15. “People were excited to see the baby, not me. They’re like, ‘Oh, it’s you. Where’s baby?'”
“My husband and baby [came to set] because we had just had a little baby,” she explained to the outlet. “Some people had partners that came up. Most people were alone, I think. A lot of people had children too, but maybe a little bit older.”
“I just had a tiny, tiny baby,” Johansson told People, adding that he was the “set baby.” Jost was by Johansson’s side at the Cannes Film Festival in May to celebrate “Asteroid City”‘s release.
Johansson also shares daughter Rose, 8, with ex Romain Dauriac. Back in April, she reflected on some of the challenges of being a mom to a toddler. “Three is really tough. I remember my daughter – my daughter is 8 1/2 – and when she was 2, I thought, ‘This is great. I don’t know what everybody is talking about,” she told Dear Media’s “The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast.” “Then she turned 3, and it was like being in an emotionally abusive relationship. It’s crazy.”
Johansson said she felt bad because her daughter had “constant mood swings.” “Those poor little guys; I feel bad for ’em. Must be a lot – you’re up and down constantly,” she explained.
A baby, she added, is much easier than a toddler. “Having a baby is so lovely,” she said on the podcast. “They’re so cute. They sit there and they love you and then that’s it. And you just get, like, love from them, whereas you get a lot of grief from toddlers. Like, everything you do is not right, which is hard.”
