Rosario Dawson’s Star-Studded Dating History, From Eric André to Cory Booker
Over the course of three decades, Rosario Dawson has had an incredible acting career. She got her start in the edgy 1995 indie film “Kids,” which helped her gain notoriety as a young artist. Throughout the early to mid-2000s, Dawson became a household name following her roles in films like “Josie and the Pussycats,” “Men in Black II,” and “Rent.” She also has notably starred in film adaptations of comic books, including “Sin City” and Netflix’s Marvel TV series. Most recently, Dawson can be seen in the Disney+ series “Ahsoka” and “Haunted Mansion,” which premiered in July 2023.
When she isn’t occupied with acting jobs, though, Dawson keeps her personal life under the radar. Since being in the public eye, Dawson has been linked to comedian Eric André and politician Cory Booker. Currently, she’s dating Nnamdi Okafor, whom she met in 2022. Okafor, a philanthropic strategist at California State University, connected with Dawson over their mutual love for giving back to the community. “He’s in that same space of wanting to be of service. And I think that’s one of the things we get along on, though he did introduce himself first as a poet,” the actor told People in October 2022.

Joshua Jackson (2002-2003)
In the early days of her career, Dawson met “Dawson’s Creek” star Joshua Jackson. Though it’s unknown when the two started dating, they were romantically linked in 2002, as reported by E! News. Dawson and Jackson’s relationship was mostly private, and the pair quietly broke up sometime in 2003.
Jason Lewis (2004-2006)
Dawson began dating “Sex and the City” actor Jason Lewis in 2004, according to Us Weekly. The two kept their relationship under the radar but eventually called it quits around 2006.
Mathieu Schreyer (2008-2011)
Following her breakup from Lewis, Dawson appeared to be single for a couple years. By December 2008, however, she revealed during an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” that she was dating French DJ Mathieu Schreyer, per Us Weekly. Like her other relationships, Dawson was private about her beau, but the two were spotted together in public on several occasions.
Less than three years later, Dawson broke up with Schreyer in May 2011. A source close to Dawson revealed to Us Weekly at the time, “They were always in separate places because of their careers. I know her close friends did not love his personality. He wasn’t that smiley type of guy.”
Danny Boyle (2012-2013)
Dawson met director Danny Boyle years before working together in his 2013 film “Trance,” though the movie is what arguably led to their short-lived relationship. The two surprised many when, in late 2012, Dawson revealed that they were dating in an interview with “Access Hollywood.” “It was just one of those things where we were going to just go our separate ways had someone not said something,” she told the outlet (via Us Weekly).
The couple were very private about their relationship, which ultimately came to an end in March 2013. “It’s not like we announced our relationship, so it’s not like we’re going to announce our breakup,” Dawson explained in an interview with Net-A-Porter (via Us Weekly). “I love Danny. He’s wonderful and we dated longer than people think we did. I respect Danny’s privacy, so it’s not something we really talk about.”
Eric André (2016-2017)
In 2017, the internet became a tad bit obsessed with Dawson’s relationship with comedian Eric André after they both made their relationship public by sharing a Valentine’s Day post about one another on social media, per W Magazine. In a 2017 interview on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Dawson said she met André at the Democratic National Convention in July 2016, and the two started dating shortly after. Though the pair were mostly private during their relationship, the “Clerks II” actor did praise André for taking care of her after she had to undergo emergency surgery in September 2016 for a ruptured ovarian cyst. “He took care of me in an adult diaper. That’s real love,” Dawson told Colbert.
Despite appearing solid on the outside, the couple broke up in November 2017, with a source telling Us Weekly, “It just ran its course. He was never something serious.”
Cory Booker (2018-2022)
Dawson first connected with New Jersey Senator Cory Booker during a fundraiser for a mutual friend, Ben Jealous, in the summer of 2018. Nothing came of their first encounter, but the two crossed paths again in October 2018, which is when sparks flew. “I mean, gosh, that night we talked for hours and hours,” Booker explained to The Washington Post. “I had trouble asking for her phone number. I think I said something really stupid like, ‘Uh, how would I get in touch with you?’ And she mercifully said something like, ‘Oh, you want my phone number?’ And my insides were like, ‘Hell, yeah!'” The two were spotted out together in early 2019 but kept their relationship under the radar until Dawson confirmed their status in March 2019, per People.
Over the course of their romance, Dawson publicly supported Booker as a candidate in the 2020 election and often shared sweet posts about her beau on social media. In May 2020, Dawson moved from Los Angeles to Newark, NJ, to live with Booker and told People about the transition, “It was an amazing adventure. My family are all in New York. It felt really beautiful and good to start a new chapter of my life in the driver’s seat.”
By February 2022, however, People reported that Dawson and Booker had split.
Nnamdi Okafor (2022-Present)
The “Ahsoka” actor was first linked with Nnamdi Okafor, a philanthropic strategist for California State University, in April 2022, per People. The pair made their relationship public in August 2022 after Dawson shared a series of loving pictures of the two on Instagram for Okafor’s birthday. Touching on her relationship, Dawson told the outlet that she was done being “super secretive” about who she is dating, saying, “You get to a certain age, and it’s just, ‘I’m not going to go through the trouble of hiding somebody. That just seems silly.'”
Despite this attitude, Dawson hasn’t opened up about her relationship with Okafor or posted much on social media about him since last summer. Nonetheless, it appears they are still going strong, as there hasn’t been any news of a breakup as of August 2023.
