Rihanna Steals the Show at the 2023 Oscars and We Aren’t Even a Little Bit Surprised

2023 has been a big year for Rihanna. Not only did she perform at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show where she announced her second pregnancy with A$AP Rocky, but the year is also when she received her first-ever Oscar nomination.

The “Diamonds” singer is up for best original song against Sofia Carson (“Applause” from “Tell It Like a Woman”), Lady Gaga (“Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick”), Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava (“Naatu Naatu” from “RRR”), and Ryan Lott, David Byrne, and Mitski (“This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once”).

Rihanna also took to the stage for a special performance. The Academy Awards announced on Instagram back in February that the 35-year-old singer will perform her Oscar-nominated single “Lift Me Up” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack at the March 12 ceremony.

And in true Rihanna fashion, she delivered. Her emotional performance of “Lift Me Up” wowed the crowd and earned her a standing ovation. Watch Rihanna’s whole performance at the 2023 Oscars here:

We’ll have to wait and see if Rihanna wins her first Oscar for Best Original Song.

Earlier in the evening, Rihanna walked the 2023 Oscars red carpet in a sheer leather gown.
