Rebel Wilson Opened Up About Struggling With Fertility and It’s So Important
As young women, it seems like we’re queried about our uterus from the get-go. And not just from, you know, actual medical professionals — but from every other person (and their mum!).
Whether you’re single or partnered up and happily child-free (or anywhere in between), we’re guessing you’ve had to fend off queries about your “biological clock” and its ticking…even though new studies have found that what we’ve previously been told about fertility is wrong.
And even then, doctors still use phrases like “geriatric pregnancy” — you probably heard that one thrown around in regards to Meghan Markle — as well as “inhospitable womb” and “lazy uterus”.
So yes, our wombs are far too overanalysed, but when there’s an issue, it’s likely you’ve never felt more alone.
This is why it’s so important when women — including public figures and celebrities — come forward and speak openly about their experiences. Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen have both written about miscarriage; Teigen revealed the Duchess wrote her a kind note after she lost her baby Jack.
And now, our favourite export Rebel Wilson has publicly spoken about her own fertility issues. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the actress wrote: “I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with…but I guess I gotta tell someone.
“To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense…but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.”
One of her Pitch Perfect co-stars, Alexis Knapp, commented on the post saying “so sorry my love. Been through it” accompanied with a broken heart emoji.
Basic Instinct actress Sharon Stone, also left a sweet, and personal, note on the post, saying “Been there repeatedly there is good news I have three beautiful sons.”
Along with comments from her fellow celebrities, hundreds of women in the comments also shared their own experiences, as well as offering support.
The Hustle actress updated her post after the outpouring of love, saying “I can’t tell you how much that meant to me and has made me feel a lot better today. Social media for the win here in terms of creating connection when I was in a very lonely place. So thank you everyone ?.”
