Raising Kanan Season 1 Isn't Over Yet, but We Already Have a Few Details About Next Season
Power Book III: Raising Kanan first premiered in July, but Kanan Stark’s story is just getting started. The series, which is the third installment in the Power franchise, serves as a prequel story as it follows the younger version of 50 Cent’s character, played by Mekai Curtis. With a star-studded cast and production team, the show has quickly become a huge hit with fans as we learn more about Kanan’s backstory. Thankfully, we have plenty more to look forward to. Before the first season even aired, it was renewed by Starz. Though details are pretty scarce at the moment, we already know who will be starring in the upcoming season. Read ahead as we uncover more information about season two.
Raising Kanan Season 2 Plot
Though the official plot for season two hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s clear that the second season will dive even deeper into Kanan’s backstory and possibly start bridging the gap between the prequel and Power. “One season isn’t enough to tell the coming-of-age story of Kanan Stark and his mother, Raq, a fierce and successful woman who is a force of nature,” Jeffrey Hirsch, president and CEO of Starz, previously said in a statement about the show’s renewal. “The anticipation globally for more of the Power Universe made it clear that the Kanan story needs to continue.” The upcoming season one finale on Sept. 19 will likely give us an even better idea about what to expect in season two.
Raising Kanan Season 2 Cast
Patina Miller, Mekai Curtis, Omar Epps, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Toby Sandeman, Shanley Caswell, Quincy Brown, and Antonio Ortiz are all expected to return next season. There are also a few new additions to the cast, including Omar Dorsey as a businessman named Cartier “Duns” Fareed, LeToya Luckett as Jukebox’s mom, Krystal Joy Brown as Marvin’s anger-management therapist, and Paulina Singer as a rising singer at Lou and Crown’s label.
Raising Kanan Season 2 Release Date
A release date hasn’t been confirmed, but many NY locals have reported that filming for the second season kicked off in July. Seeing that season one premiered in July, we could be looking at another summer release date.
