Back in December 2021, girl group Little Mix announced that they’d be taking a break from the band in order to “recharge and work on some other projects”, which, in the music industry, often directly translates to “test out solo careers.” In this instance, we may actually be on to something, because Perrie Edwards has been spotted in the recording studio without her bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
On Jan. 13, producer and singer Kamille (who’s worked on numerous Little Mix records, alongside the band’s longtime collaborator MNEK) shared a video on TikTok of herself with Edwards alongside a caption that read “studio wit my boo”, understandably leading fans to believe that new solo music from the artist is on the way. Though it’s not yet been confirmed by Edwards, it seems pretty likely.
The video also featured singer-songwriter and producer Fred Again, whose name you may recognise from his work on Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers”, “Bad Habits”, and “Overpass Graffiti,” as well as Eminem’s 2020 Music to Be Murdered By album. Fred’s writing credits also include the likes of Charli XCX, Stormzy, and Ellie Goulding – so it’s safe to say Edwards is in very good hands.
That said, given Fred’s varied musical experience, we’re expecting Edwards’s new music (whenever it drops) to be quite the departure from her usual Little Mix sound, and we’re excited to hear more about the direction she ends up going in. Stay tuned for more updates from Edwards and her solo career.
