Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling book One True Loves is getting turned into a romantic film set for the big screen. The film adaptation – written by Reid and her husband, Alex J. Reid – tells the tale of two high school sweethearts who get separated after one of them disappears in a helicopter crash on their one-year anniversary. The cast of the romance film stars a buzzy trio of leading names: Hamilton star Phillipa Soo, Shang-Chi lead Simu Liu, and Luke Bracey. One True Loves Plot
The film follows high school sweethearts Emma (Soo) and Jesse (Bracey) as they fall in love and travel the world in hopes of building a new exciting life together outside of their small hometown. But when Jesse disappears in a tragic helicopter crash on the couple’s one-year anniversary, a heartbroken Emma must return home to get her life back on track. Four years later, Emma finds happiness once again now that she runs her parents’ bookshop and is engaged to her childhood best friend, Sam (Liu). But life throws her a curveball when she receives a phone call that Jesse is, in fact, still alive. Torn between her first love and newfound romance, Emma must choose between a life she thought was no more and one that’s just beginning.

In addition to Soo, Liu, and Bracey, the movie also stars Michaela Conlin, Lauren Tom, Michael O’Keefe, Tom Everett Scott, Cooper van Grootel, Oona Yaffe, and Phinehas Yoon.

The film is currently in production in North Carolina, but no official release date has been set.
