What we do know, however, is that some series on Netflix are basically made for watching while high. Don’t get us wrong – all these shows are just as fantastic sober. Lily Collins stars in this romantic-comedy series as Emily Cooper, a marketing exec from Chicago who relocates to Paris after landing her dream job and discovers a world of high fashion, work challenges, and love interests. It’s so bad it’s good, meaning you’ll catch yourself laughing even if you didn’t hit the sativa blunt.

Marie Kondo, the author of “Spark Joy” and “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up,” hosts this series as she pays visits to disorganized participants and helps them declutter their lives – one home makeover at a time. Organisation has never been so satisfying or mesmerising (especially if you’re under the influence of the devil’s lettuce).

"Big Mouth"

Voiced by an all-star cast of comedians, including Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, and Jordan Peele, this raunchy animated series follows a group of friends as they embark on the first stages of puberty. We suspect Nick Kroll intended the series to be watched high.

"New Girl"

This very silly series follows a dysfunctional group of roommates bonded by career disappointments, family disputes, and relationship complications (often involving one another). The show is hilarious enough on its own, but it’s absolutely riotous when you’re high as a kite.

Netflix

"Night on Earth"

In this six-part nature docuseries (narrated by “The Handmaid’s Tale” actress Samira Wiley), cameras that are extra sensitive to moonlight document the behaviour of nocturnal creatures after the sun sets. The series observes creatures in a variety of settings and locations, and thanks to its wild technology, we guarantee this show will give you a look at nature like you’ve never seen before – especially if there’s bud involved.

"BoJack Horseman"

This adult animated comedy follows the titular BoJack, a humanoid horse who was once the star of a ’90s sitcom but is now a boozed-up, washed-up D-lister hoping to make a Hollywood comeback. Believe it or not, a substance-abusing talking horse makes a lot more sense when you add weed.

"American Vandal"

This true-crime satire revolves around amateur filmmakers Peter and Sam as they take on teenage deviants – such as a phallic-tagging prankster and the mystery “Turd Burglar” – at different high schools. Is it bizarre as heck? Yes. Does it pair perfectly with weed? You betcha.

Netflix

"Sex, Explained"

In this limited five-part docuseries produced by Vox (a spinoff of the series “Explained”), various topics around sex are explored, including sexual fantasies, attraction, birth control, fertility, and childbirth. "Schitt's Creek"

This sitcom chronicles a wealthy couple and their adult children, who suddenly find themselves completely bankrupt. "F Is For Family"

This raunchy adult comedy, which is inspired by the life of stand-up comic Bill Burr, revolves around short-tempered airport worker Frank Murphy; his wife, Sue; and their three kids as they live in a 1970s suburb. We can’t explain why adult cartoons are even funnier with bud, but it’s just a fact.

"Workin' Moms"

When best friends Kate (a friendly PR agent) and Anne (a hardheaded psychiatrist) join a mommies’ group in Toronto, they form an unlikely bond with three of the other women. The quirkiness of the friendship’s dynamic, coupled with the unpredictability of their everyday lives, make this show a total knockout while sober. Throw weed into the mix, and you’ll find yourself laughing out loud at every episode.

Netflix

"Tiger King"

A real-life murder-for-hire plot has an unusual twist in this documentary miniseries. Set in the world of big-cat enthusiasts and breeders, the series tells the story of how a rivalry and a controversial animal-park boss led to some seriously dark twists and turns. The show is mind-blowing sober, and it’s even more fascinating under the influence of Mary Jane.

"Black Mirror"

Each episode of this trippy tech-gone-wrong series tells a new story about everyday individuals taking on (and being tortured by) questionable technology. This one is especially wild when you’re smoking bud, but if you have a tendency to feel paranoid while high, avoid this series at all costs.

"Love, Death, & Robots"

Produced by Tim Miller and David Fincher, this adult animated series fluctuates between sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and dark comedy – as well as from 2D to photo-real 3D CGI – and tells 18 thought-provoking stories that will make you see robots in a whole new light. It’s stranger and cooler than anything else you’ve likely seen, and we can only hope that Netflix gives us more of this hypnotic fever dream of a show.

"Stranger Things"

This insanely popular sci-fi series follows an adolescent crew living in 1980s Indiana as they discover supernatural forces, secret government threats, and a young girl with telekinetic powers. It’s a crazy trip, but as with “Black Mirror,” approach with caution while high: if you suffer from paranoia, you might find yourself searching for the Demogorgon around every corner.

Netflix / Greg Gayne/Netflix

"The Ranch"

Comedy series “The Ranch” follows Colt Bennett (Ashton Kutcher), an egotistical former high-school and college football star who, after more than a decade, is still unable to accept that his best days may be behind him. He returns to his small Colorado hometown for a semipro tryout, but after learning that his family’s ranch is in jeopardy, he decides to move back home and lend a hand. As he readjusts to life back on the ranch with his older brother (Kutcher’s “That ’70s Show” costar Danny Masterson) and divorced parents, he realises that he may not be as much of a big shot as he previously thought. You’ll laugh and cry while watching this show high.

Netflix

"Nailed It!"

This Netflix cooking competition – in which amateur bakers attempt to recreate elaborate cakes for cash prizes, finding themselves subject to hilarious baking fails – was basically created to make us feel better about all of our Pinterest disappointments. Although the end results are way less pretty than those you’ll find on “The Great British Baking Show”, you’ll probably still be left craving cake.
