Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have split up after 10 months of dating, Us Weekly confirms. According to the publication, Miley, 27, and Cody, 23, split because they “realized they’re better off as friends than dating each other.” People reports that the split happened in July and the two are still on good terms. “Miley is fine and just focused on her new music,” a source told the publication. “She and Cody are still friends and super supportive of each other. There is no drama.”
The news of the split was announced just hours before the release of Miley’s new single “Midnight Sky,” which seemingly references some of her most publicized relationships over the past year. Following the song’s premiere, Cody made sure to congratulate Miley writing, “So proud of you” on his Instagram Story alongside a screenshot that appeared to show the exes FaceTiming.
After several years of friendship, Miley and Cody were first spotted kissing in October 2019, shortly following the singer’s divorce from her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth and her brief relationship with The Hills star Kaitlynn Carter. Miley soon confirmed the dating rumors surrounding her and Cody on social media, referring to him as her “boyfriend” in an Instagram Story.
