Michelle Obama and Jill Biden have set up quite a badass friendship since their husbands took office together for the first time 12 years ago. The first and former first ladies spent plenty of time working side by side, from the campaign trail to speaking engagements at the White House. While Barack Obama and Joe Biden might be famous for their bond, Michelle and Jill’s under-the-radar sisterhood is equally as sweet.
Over their two terms, Michelle and Jill were frequently photographed together. They joked and hugged and even shared an umbrella at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Their friendship continues into 2021 as Michelle celebrated Joe officially becoming president on Jan. 20. In an Instagram tribute, Michelle shared a message of hope and relief and noted that “we’ll have terrific examples of leadership in @DrBiden and @DouglasEmhoff, as our new First Lady and Second Gentleman.”
