Happy “Love Island” day! It might be freezing outside, but winter “Love Island” returns to our screens on 16 Jan. to bring us drama, love, and just a little resentment that we are wearing thermals and the Islanders are in swimwear. Plus, it’s the first series presented by Maya Jama so we’re expecting a whole host of lust-worthy outfits.
As the series kicks off in the South African villa, the boys arrive in their new home first. This time, the girls will enter one by one and it’s up to the lads to step forward if they feel an instant attraction. Jama, who arrives by helicopter might we add, then helps the Islanders form their initial couples. As she leaves, she says, “Don’t forget finding your perfect match is never that simple, trust me I know.” Could this be a little reference to her past relationships with Stormzy and basketball player Ben Simmons?
Jama has taken the reigns from previous “Love Island” host Laura Whitmore, who quit following the 2022 series citing “conflicting projects”. Whitmore took over from the late Caroline Flack in 2020.
First-look images of the launch episode have been released as Jama joins the winter “Love Island” 2023 cast to get the flirting started, and Jama’s entrace outfit did not disappoint. Wearing a plunging tie-dye printed maxi dress with ruffles at the hem and a studded halterneck, her outfit was perfectly pitched for the occasion. Sexy, yet sophisticated, the Roberto Cavalli dress is from the resort 2023 collection, so not currently available to buy. Her hair was kept down with soft waves as she sported winged eyeliner and a nude lip setting the tone for the highly anticipated series.
