No, your eyes are not deceiving you. John Carasig, otherwise known as the white chocolate volute man, is returning to the MasterChef Australia kitchen for Fans & Favourites.
His claim to fame was on season seven of the hit reality show when he caused absolute carnage during the relay challenge.
A quick refresher: Carasig decided to go against the brief of cooking mussels in a coconut and tomato broth, and whipped up a white chocolate velouté instead.
This decision sent him — and his team — into elimination, which came as no surprise to anyone. While it left people furious at the time, Carasig started a new tradition.
Ever since his major kitchen mishap, no season of MasterChef Australia is complete without someone bringing up his name during the relay challenge. Perhaps that’s why he’s making a comeback, to help redeem his good name?
Born in the Philippines, John is passionate about cooking delicious food with some of Australia’s highest quality produce. After migrating to Melbourne at the age of 10, John has been a whiz in the kitchen from a young age.
Following his appearance on MasterChef Australia, John started Adobo Kitchen Bean To Bar Chocolates, which specialises in single-origin handcrafted chocolates. The brand is set to relaunch as TSOKOLATE.
When he’s not cooking up a storm, John works in the travel industry as a flight attendant. During the pandemic, he and his fiancé Dave began Human Hair Wigs By Dave, creating custom made wigs for dancers, drag queens, cancer patients and those suffering from alopecia.
In his spare time, he also sews outfits for Dave who works as a drag queen. Is there anything this man can’t do!?
MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites premieres Monday, April 18 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
