MAFS’ Sandy Admits She Was Blindsided by Dan’s Confession He Wasn’t ‘Sexually Attracted’ to Her
It’s been a tumultuous week for “Married At First Sight” couple Sandy and Dan. Things seemed to be going great between the pair until Dan publicly admitted he wasn’t sexually attracted to his ‘wife’.
Sandy was shocked to hear her husband’s revelation at the commitment ceremony, especially after they had shared intimate moments together.
“I didn’t think that was an issue,” she told 9Entertainment. “If someone is kissing you and giving you cuddles, you’re going to think that person is attracted to you.”
She also explained that her inability to show public displays of affection contributed to the perceived lack of chemistry. Sandy revealed that PDA was not something she was used to and she had cultural sensitivities.
“I obviously didn’t want him to feel rejected,” she said. “I’ve never seen my parents kiss. So when you grow up in that environment those sorts of physically intimate things don’t feel natural in a public setting without it feeling forced.”
Sandy and Dan Consummated Their ‘Marriage’ That Same Night
Understandably, Sandy was stung by Dan’s revelation. But the pair chose to stay in the experiment and even consummated their ‘marriage’ later that evening.
“Obviously when it came to sex that was a boundary I only wanted to cross when I knew it was the real deal,” Sandy said in the interview. She also expressed her exhaustion from trying to stay positive while feeling rejected, admitting, “I was getting tired of trying.”
“Even though he’s had two failed marriages, I told myself, ‘Don’t look at that as a negative, think, he’s got life experience’,” she said. “I thought ‘He’s got a daughter?’, that must mean he’s going to understand a woman’s emotions,” she added.
“It’s not like I walked down the aisle and thought, ‘Oh my God, Dan is the best-looking guy I’ve ever seen’. It was a slow burn, but in my mind, it was not about the superficial. It was about getting to know the person and going from there.”
With the butt-dial drama looming, where Evelyn overheard Dan speaking horribly about Sandy, things are about to kick off at tonight’s dinner party. So, there’s no telling if the pair will be able to turn things around.
“Married At First Sight” continues Sunday at 7.00pm and Monday — Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
