Channel 9 Has Released a Statement After Allegedly Asking Widows to Sign On to MAFS 2023

Channel 9 has responded to the rumour that Married At First Sight producers have been reaching out to widows asking them to apply for the 2023 season of the reality show.

According to a recent report from Yahoo! Lifestyle, producers allegedly approached a number of women whose partners had recently passed and encouraged them to sign up.

A friend of one of the alleged widows took aim at the show’s recruiting methods, telling the publication: “They are looking for a widow and literally messaging all the ladies that she knows that have and are going through this trauma and some are very recent.”

After the report was published, the network released a statement to Daily Mail Australia saying:  “The casting of the next season of MAFS is not targeting those who have recently lost their partner.”

So Dramatic! recently revealed that casting is well underway for the next season of MAFS, and that this time, they’re intent on scouting a more diverse cast.

According to the source, producers have approached POC content creators and TikTok stars to see if they’re interested in signing on.

It was also revealed that the rumoured Celebrity MAFS spin-off has been axed because they couldn’t find enough celebs who actually wanted to take part.

Speaking to So Dramatic!, an anonymous celeb who was set to star in the new season said: “I’ve been told it will not be featuring celebrities anymore. They’ve had to hold it because they didn’t have enough interest.”

Looks like MAFS 2023 is already shaping up to be a drama-filled season!
