A year has passed since Olivia Frazer first graced our screens on “Married At First Sight”, but she’s certainly left a lasting impression.
Despite having a strong connection with her on-screen ‘husband’ Jackson Lonie on season nine of “MAFS”, her love story was overshadowed. Rather, the 29-year-old’s time on the show was marred by controversy and backlash. Soon enough, she was the “villain” of her season.
Olivia has continued to speak out about her experience and has become a vocal advocate for mental health awareness. She’s even praised this season’s cast for standing up for themselves in the media.
Olivia Wishes She Stood Up for Herself More on “MAFS”
“I did see something about them [the cast] leaking stuff to the press already,” Olivia told POPSUGAR Australia. “I’m just like, ‘good on them’. I wish that I did that, I wish that I spoiled the show.”
Olivia said that she struggled with speaking up for herself, both while filming the show and afterward.
“I was just so scared of breaking contracts,” Olivia said.
On top of that, Olivia worried about upsetting her publicists. This meant that she didn’t share anything that happened on the show, beyond what we saw play out on-screen.

“I wish that I advocated for myself and stopped playing by [the] rules,” she said. “I didn’t stick up for myself while filming [and] I didn’t stick up for myself afterward.”
“So, I’ve seen things about this year’s “MAFS: contestants leaking stuff and using their social media, leaking voice notes… and it’s like, good on them.”
Olivia still gets inundated with questions about the new season, despite wanting to distance herself from it.
“I don’t know how many times I have to say I’m not watching it for people to stop asking me about it,” she said.
She reiterated: “I don’t have any idea what’s going on.”
“I know who these people are because of the media, seeing headlines and things like that, but I don’t know the nitty gritties… As much as I can avoid it, I am.”
