“Doesn’t Make Sense”: Melinda Grills Harrison’s Questionable Behaviour at the First MAFS 2023 Dinner Party

9Now

Now that the “Married At First Sightweddings are done and dusted, the honeymoons are also coming to an end. And while some of the newlyweds made the most of their last day in wedded bliss, we’ve watched others hit breaking point already.

So, the very first dinner party of the season couldn’t come at a better time. It’s the chance to see how other couples are going, and the perfect opportunity for the contestants to call out unacceptable behaviour.

Bronte and Harrison have been on rocky terms ever since one of Bronte’s friends told the bride her ‘husband’ had someone on the outside during their wedding. But that’s not the only problem they’ve run into.

After a turbulent start to their marriage, the pair attempted to rekindle their romance in the Hunter Valley, but things quickly fizzled out when Harrison told his ‘wife’ that he was struggling with attraction… right after they did the deed — a MASSIVE red flag.

Anyway, despite being on thin ice, Harrison wanted to get back on the same page and the pair called a truce and planned to enter the dinner party together.

But if you know “MAFS” by now, you know drama is going to rear its head again. And that’s exactly what happened.

What Went Down Between Melinda and Harrison at the First Dinner Party

Harrison was prompted by the other contestants to tell his side of the story about what went down at the wedding. Yep, we’re talking about the 20-year-old he had apparently been texting the week prior.

He seemingly won over most of the table with his version of events from the night, but Melinda wasn’t having any of it and called out his inconsistencies at the table.

“He’s openly admitted that one week prior to coming in here, he was sleeping with someone. It just doesn’t make sense,” Melinda told producers.

“… I’ve been in a situation before where I’ve dealt with a guy like Harrison. Heard that bulls**t, things don’t add up… so I do have advice for Bronte, and it’s run… fast.”

Harrison, unsurprisingly, got defensive, telling cameras: “I don’t appreciate being attacked like that. Who I was, before I came into this, has absolutely no bearing on my decisions now, and I don’t feel the need to answer that, to anyone.”

And when Bronte mentioned that she was experiencing some doubts about their relationship, Harrison accused her of not putting any effort in. She left the table in tears with Tahnee and Caitlin by her side, while the stunned experts watched on in disbelief.

It will be interesting to see if the pair can turn things around during the next phase of the experiment: move-ins and confessions week.

“Married At First Sight” airs at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
