Netflix has its next YA-book-to-movie adaptation queued up with a romantic trip to Tuscany this summer. Fans of dreamy rom-coms like “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “The Kissing Booth” will fall in love with the romantic story based on New York Times bestselling author Jenna Evans Welch’s 2017 novel titled “Love & Gelato.”
Billed under the same name, Netflix’s forthcoming coming-of-age tale stars Susanna Skaggs as Lina Emerson, a premed student who takes a trip to Italy to fulfil her mother’s dying wish and search for her unknown father. But she’s also there to have the best summer of her life before college. Along the way, Lina will find that her serendipitous travels take her on a thrilling journey of romance, companionship, and a newfound appreciation for gelato.
In the trailer, which arrived on June 3, Skaggs’s character follows her mother’s old diaries as she prepares for an adventure abroad that just might turn her world upside down. “I really feel like I needed to come here to figure myself out,” she says in the two-minute clip. “. . . Well, Italy, I have this weird feeling you might completely change my life.”
