Almost a year after confirming she’s dating comedian Myke Wright, Lizzo went Instagram official with her beau on Saturday, Feb. 4. The “About Damn Time” singer posted a carousel of photos featuring her and Wright at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammys Gala on her grid alongside the caption “Hard launch.”
The happy couple look cozy in the photos, which include a shot of Lizzo leaning her head against Wright as he smiles, a snap featuring the Grammy winner doing a “Princess Diaries”–style foot pop, and a pic where the duo are in full power-couple mode as they stand side by side. While Lizzo has been candid about dating the comedian, seeing her finally share photos of him on her Instagram is still special, as evidenced by the reactions of the singer’s famous friends.
“We love a hard launch ?,” Lori Harvey commented on the post, while Kehlani added, “BEEN WAITIN??????.” Kerry Washington and Natasha Lyonne both left strings of celebratory emojis. Meanwhile, SZA chimed in with “A doll and her Ken ??,” which is extra fitting since Lizzo has been rocking a lot of Barbiecore looks lately.
In April 2022, Lizzo confirmed she and Wright were dating during an interview with Andy Cohen. When asked if it was difficult to balance her career with her romantic life, she explained, “If you have the right person, no. Not at all. It’s not even a factor. Because it should be mutually supportive, no matter what that person does.”
Lizzo later revealed that Wright has been a part of her life for quite some time – he actually knew her before she was famous. During a July 2022 interview on “The Breakfast Club,” the “Truth Hurts” singer shared how knowing her boyfriend for so long actually made their relationship all the more authentic. “Even the man I’m with, he knew me before all of this, too. We were friends. It hit different when they knew you before 2019,” she said.
Prior to going Instagram official, Lizzo and Wright walked the red carpet together for the June 2022 premiere of her Emmy-winning Amazon series, “Watch Out For the Big Grrrls.” Then, in December of last year, she made it clear that things are serious between her and Wright.
“We’re not playing any games with each other anymore. We’re very much locked in,” she said on “The Howard Stern Show.” “This is official. There’s nobody else I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.”
