Liz Ellis Crowned Queen of the Jungle on “I’m a Celeb” 2023
After weeks of trials, tribulations, and plenty of tears and laughter, the “I’m a Celeb” 2023 winner is… Liz Ellis!
This season of “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” brought together 12 celebrities from different backgrounds and industries, all competing for a grand prize of $100,000 to donate to their chosen charity. And while the challenges and experiences they faced were tough, the contestants remained committed to supporting their causes and raising awareness for important issues.
In the end, it all came down to one question: would it be Queen Aesha, King Harry or Queen Liz? But there can only be one winner, and it was Liz who came out on top.
On Instagram, Liz’s team celebrated the netball legend’s win, writing: “She did it. Liz did it! No words. OK… maybe a few.”
The post went on to thank “every single person” who watched the show and voted for Queen Liz, and for her charity, Share the Dignity.
“Huge shoutout to family, friends, colleagues, crew and all the netty gangs for the beautiful messages of love and support,” the post added. “She did it. Not surprised. But so deeply proud and delighted.”
Liz Ellis’ Road to the Crown
Liz showed viewers a different side of herself, proving that she’s not just a talented athlete, but also a warm, funny, and down-to-earth person. And she instantly became a fan-favourite during her time on the show.
Despite being one of the older contestants on the show, Liz held her own in the trials and challenges. She proved that her years of training and competition had given her a level of mental and physical toughness that served her well in the jungle. She tackled every challenge with determination and humour, often surprising herself and the other contestants with her resilience and strength.
Why Liz Chose Share the Dignity
The former athlete braved the jungle for her chosen charity Share the Dignity. They are all about helping vulnerable women and people who menstruate ensure they have access to sanitary items. Share the Dignity also works to make a real, on-the-ground difference in the lives of women and girls experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence or doing it tough.
“When I was thinking about my charity that I wanted to support, I walked into my local library with my kids, and in the toilet, there was what’s called a dignity vending machine and I was intrigued,” Ellis revealed.
“It just hit me that there will be so many women who would have to make the choice whether to buy period products or whether to buy food to put on the table.
“I’ve got a little girl and I’d hate for her to be in that position.”
