Australian Survivor: Blood vs Water is set to begin on January 31 and we’re already counting down till we can finally tune in. Channel 10 have since announced the contestants of the highly anticipated show, so it’s time to get to know each of the teams.
Yes, you read that right, teams. This year, Survivor is not an individual game but rather it’s a partnership. In Blood vs Water, all contestants will compete alongside a family member in what is expected to be the show’s most explosive season yet.
Sandra Diaz-Twine isn’t the only recognisable name on the show this year, because joining her is someone completely unexpected: Former MasterChef Australia contestant Khanh Ong, who will be competing with his sister Amy. He may be a whiz in the kitchen but can he handle the heat Survivor will bring?
Amy, who is a beautician by trade, may not have the TV experience that her brother has, but she’s ready to step out of his shadow and make a name for herself. In a teaser for the show, Khanh alludes to pushing his sister to the side if it means winning the competition.
“People may know me from MasterChef. I’ve lost MasterChef twice, it’s my turn to win now,” said the 30-year-old chef. “I don’t think people expect me to be so ruthless. What is a better way of winning Survivor than saying, I cut my own family member to get to the end.”
Australia fell in love with Khanh on season 10 of MasterChef Australia where he placed third then again on MasterChef Back to Win in 2020. Now, he’s introducing his 24-year-old sister to the world, who we’re sure is just as charming as he is.
Whether the two can outsmart their fellow castaways is yet to be seen, but if Khanh plays as well as he cooks, then he’s definitely going to be stiff competition.
Australian Survivor: Blood vs Water is expected to really test the waters as contestants will be forced to go head-to-head with the people they care about the most.
“Survivor has always been an individual game,” host Jonathan La Paglia told Who. “But this season, that’s all about to change.”
Australian Survivor: Blood vs Water premieres on January 31, 2022, at 7.30pm on Channel 10 and 10play. Catch all of our coverage, here.
