Jon Bon Jovi knows a thing or two about successful marriages, as he’s been married to his wife and high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, for over 30 years. As someone with so much experience with love, the world is understandably curious about how he feels about his 20-year-old son Jake Bongiovi’s recent engagement to 19-year-old Millie Bobby Brown after just under two years of dating.
On May 2, Bon Jovi spoke with Andy Cohen on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live” about that very thing. For starters, he’s no stranger to his kids getting engaged. He told Cohen that Bongiovi’s April engagement marks “the latest” of his children to make the major life decision. “I got three of my four,” he said. Besides Bongiovi, Bon Jovi shares three more children – Stephanie (30), Jesse (28), and Romeo Bongiovi (19) – with Hurley.
Regarding the criticism that Bongiovi and Brown are both too young to get married, Bon Jovi shared why he’s not too concerned about the couple’s ages. “I don’t know if age matters,” he said. “You know, if you find the right partner and you grow together, I think that would be my advice really, is growing together is wise.”
It seems Bon Jovi is confident that Bongiovi and Brown (and all his children’s partners) are the right people for each other, adding, “I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with, and we like ’em all.”
Bon Jovi, who also admitted he’s seen Brown’s “Stranger Things,” prioritizes his son’s happiness as all that matters. “Millie is wonderful. Her whole family is great. Jake is very happy,” he concluded.
