Get to Know Jack Black’s 2 Kids, Samuel and Thomas

Jack Black has filled audiences with laughter through his many iconic film roles over the years. The actor launched his career in the early 1990s, but grew popular by the 2000s for his work in “High Fidelity,” “School of Rock,” and “Nacho Libre.” Around the same time, Jack also starred in animated films and voiced notable characters like Zeke in “Ice Age,” Lenny in “Shark Tale,” and Po in the “Kung Fu Panda” movie franchise.
When he’s not busy front-lining the comedy rock band Tenacious D or acting in films like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” or series like “The Mandalorian,” Jack is a dedicated father to his two sons, Samuel and Thomas Black, whom he shares with wife Tanya Haden. The “King Kong” actor met Haden in his younger years, when the two were both students at the K-12 Crossroads School in Santa Monica, per Parade. Years after their school years, the pair reconnected in 2005 and were married by 2006.
While being the child of a high-profile celebrity like Jack does not come without hardships, the actor does everything he can to be there for them. “I mean, the hard thing is that being the child of a celebrity is not easy. It has some special stresses that are not [typical of] normal childhood stuff . . . I just want them to be happy,” he revealed in an April 2023 interview People.

Samuel "Sammy" Black
Jack’s first son, Samuel, was born on June 10, 2006, as reported by Access Online. For the most part, the actor kept his son out of the spotlight as he grew up, but has revealed a little bit about him as he has gotten older.
In a 2022 interview with People (The TV Show!), Jack shared that his oldest son has a bit of his creative genes. “Sammy, my 15-year-old, gets a kick out of some of my stories that I tell him about Hollywood adventures…He was like, ‘Hey, can I make a movie about some of your Hollywood adventures? But I won’t say that it’s you,'” he told the outlet.

Thomas "Tommy" Black
Thomas Black, the second child of Jack and Haden, was born in May 2008, per Entertainment Tonight. Like his older brother, Thomas has a creative side and enjoys making movies of his own on his phone. Jack previously told People in 2019, “They both have made cool little short films on their iPhones. I [am] so proud and grateful for my family.”
In addition to having fun with his brother, Thomas also had an interest in marital arts. During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in May 2015, Jack revealed that not only was his son newly obsessed with martial arts, but he also enjoyed practicing moves on his dad. “It got serious, and I had to have a sit down and have a talk with him and say, ‘You can’t use your powers of martial arts only when your life is in danger- you can’t do this against normal people,” the “Kung Fu Panda” actor joked.
