There’s a brand-new member of the royal family! On Feb. 9, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank announced the birth of their first child.
The couple shared the exciting news of their new arrival on Instagram via a sweet black and white photo, which showed Jack and Eugenie holding their baby’s hand along with a simple caption: “??!!” The Royal Family confirmed the news on Instagram that Princess Eugenie gave birth to a baby boy at 8:55 a.m. at The Portland Hospital, with the new arrival weighing 8lbs 1oz.
After tying the knot in October 2018, Eugenie and Jack announced that they were expecting in September 2020 via an adorable Instagram post. The post showed a photo of teeny-tiny bear slippers, along with a snap of the happy couple together. Eugenie captioned the adorable photos, “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021….??.”
The newborn is Queen Elizabeth’s ninth great-grandchild and 11th in line to the throne, although he will not be granted an official royal title. Similarly, Jack was not called ‘prince’, ‘earl or ‘duke’ by the Queen after marrying Eugenie.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the Royal Family wrote in their official press statement.
Jack and Eugenie’s newborn son, whose name is yet to be revealed, is the first grandchild for Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, and his ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson.
Congrats to the new family of three!
