In celebration of International Women’s Day this March 8, 2023, premium shopping app Her Black Book is hosting a shopping extravaganza. It’s a powerful movement that champions female founders and gives people a platform to tangibly support them.

So, how can get involved and shop a whole new outfit from a fully female-founded online space? Let’s get into the details below.

What Is the Festival Of Her?

Festival Of Her sees a diverse range of more than 200 female-founded brands coming together in the same space, via an online fashion festival within the Her Black Book app. The first-of-its-kind shopping festival, the event is an online shopping space for female-founded brands, including some incredible names, such as internationally-renowned designer Anine Bing.

With gender inequality still a major issue and the support for female-founded businesses still lagging, Festival Of Her aims to flip the script and rally as much support for women who have been brave enough to spearhead a venture of their own.

“As a female founder myself I’m aptly aware of the challenges and gender bias that comes with starting, building and growing a brand,” Her Black Book co-founder Julie Stevanja, said in a statement.

“By shining a light on women-led brands through our Festival Of Her campaign, our mission is to encourage people to think twice about where they are spending their hard-earned dollars and make a habit of choosing female-owned businesses when they are shopping.”

Other brands that are available to shop via the Festival Of Her are globally recognised names including P.E Nation and Viktoria & Woods, as well as locally-loved labels (both established and emerging) including Showpo, SIR. The Label, Naked Sundays, Brillo Beauty, Reliquia Collective, and RAEF The Label.

When Is the Online Shopping Festival Live?

Right now! But don’t worry, there’s no rush.

The festival will run over a two-week period from Thursday, March 2 to Thursday, March 16, and each of the brands is offering shoppers exclusive incentives (discounts, cashback offers and other promotions) when they shop via Her Black Book.

Why Is Supporting Female-Founded Brands So Important?

Women supporting women is always important, but by truly investing in the success of women in business, we’ll start to see systematic change.

Not only do we want female-founded brands and companies to succeed in systematic change, but also to continue our societal shift toward gender equality. Female-owned brands can give other women, femme-presenting and she/they people, they can provide products and services that make us feel seen in ways that companies run by men just don’t.

“Surprisingly, so many businesses aimed at female consumers are actually founded by men,” Her Black Book co-founder Sali Sasi said in a statement. “So, the objective of this festival is to bring visibility to businesses with women behind them.”

“We truly believe that together, we can see HER thrive.”
