Halle Bailey and Chlöe may be focusing on their respective solo careers right now, but the 22-year-old “The Little Mermaid” star wants to make it crystal clear that she and her older sister are “still very much a duo musically.”
While promoting her new partnership with Zyrtec, Bailey teased that she and Chlöe are getting back in the studio together very soon. “My sister and I are very, very excited to work on our new album together, as well as just let these amazing solo projects come out for both of us,” Bailey says before emphasizing, “but people should definitely know that we are not finished making music together.”
“But people should definitely know that we are not finished making music together.”
Chlöe is currently gearing up for the March 31 release of her debut album, “In Pieces,” while Bailey has been honing her acting craft, securing roles in the forthcoming “The Color Purple” adaptation, director Ethan Berger’s thriller “The Line,” and of course, starring as the first Black Ariel in Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid” film.
Of forging their own paths as artists, Bailey says, “This journey has been a really beautiful one. My sister and I are so close, she’s like my arm . . . And she’s my biggest supporter. I’m her biggest supporter. We’re just really excited to be able to be doing all of this together and for this all to be happening. I’m so proud of her. And her album comes out March 31, ‘In Pieces,’ and everyone should be so hyped for it.”

Chloe x Halle released their second studio album, “Ungodly Hour,” in 2020. A year later, they dropped a cover of “Georgia on My Mind” in conjunction with ESPN’s Masters Tournament, and they’ve continued sharing the stage together, with their most recent performance being at the MusiCares Person of the Year event this past February. Looking ahead, Bailey says “there’s so many people” she’d love to work with.
“I really am adoring what the women of today are doing, like Summer Walker, H.E.R., and my sister Chlöe,” Bailey adds. “There’s so many amazing Black women that are just killing it right now that I would love to collaborate with in the future.” Given that Bailey is costarring with H.E.R. in “The Color Purple,” which is out in December, a musical collaboration certainly doesn’t seem too far-fetched – perhaps they could start with the movie soundtrack?
