Darren Star’s Emmy-nominated series Emily in Paris has been renewed by Netflix for a third and fourth season, so grab your passport and pack your bags, because we’re heading to France.
After season two’s enormous success, debuting in the Global Netflix Top 10 and topping the list in 94 countries with 107.6 million hours viewed from December 22 to December 26, the show, despite somewhat controversial, has become a fan-favourite ever since its initial release.
Emily in Paris is the story of Emily (Lily Collins), an ambitious, 20-something marketing executive from Chicago, who unexpectedly lands a job in Paris after the company acquires a French luxury marketing company. What follows is a series of adventures and challenges as she juggles the differences between Paris and Chicago, while making new friends and forming romantic relationships.
It’s a bit farfetched, but the show is pure escapism, which could be the reason for its success. The scenery, fashion and lifestyle is something viewers hope for themselves and watching Emily in Paris lets them live vicariously through her.
The next season will shoot at the Studios of Paris, on the outskirts of the French capital in the spring or summer. According to Variety, other locations are also being considered, such as London.
Star is behind a number of hit series such as Sex and the City, Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place and now, he’s dedicating his time to writing season three of Emily in Paris.
While it has yet to be confirmed, we’re expecting the upcoming instalment to feature returning cast members Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Camille Razat (Camille) and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie) alongside Lily Collins.
Since its release in October 2020, the show has earned two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program.
Emily in Paris is available to stream on Netflix.
