28 Roles That Prove The Alienist's Daniel Brühl Has the Range

Daniel Brühl has certainly proven over the years he can do everything from comedy and romance to action and drama. While most know Brühl for his role as Helmut Zemo in Captain America: Civil War or Dr. Laszlo Kreizler on The Alienist, he actually got his start on the German soap opera Verbotene Liebe. The 42-year-old Spanish-German actor would then go on to have his breakthrough role in 2003’s Goodbye, Lenin!, in which Alex Kerner (Brühl) has to pretend that communism still exists in Berlin after the fall of the wall since a jarring incident could kill his recently coma recovered mother.

Although, Brühl’s first big English-speaking role was in 2004’s Ladies in Lavender, his breakout role for US audiences was as Fredrick Zoller in 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. Brühl is also an accomplished voice actor and has not only dubbed his own roles (in English, Spanish, German, and French) but has dubbed all sorts of things (including the German-language version of Cars and a lot of Jackie Chan’s B-movies).
