Taylor Jenkins Reid’s rockstar oral history-style novel Daisy Jones and the Six made a huge splash when it debuted in 2019. It even earned a TV adaptation through Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine months before it hit bookshelves! If you raced through the pages of Daisy Jones and can’t wait to see the TV adaptation, rest assured, the 12-episode series has officially started shooting for Amazon. And there’s no better time than the present to get to know the talented cast.
Daisy Jones follows, in a documentary, “behind the music” style, the rise and fall of a group of musicians set against the backdrop of the 1970’s Los Angeles music scene. The eight main characters at the heart of the story are played by a cast of amazing actors and musicians. Some of the cast members have worked on high-profile projects before, and others are fresh faces who are ready to make their mark in Daisy Jones. Here’s what you should know about these actors – and where you might have seen them before:

Riley Keough as Daisy Jones
Most recently seen in Zola, Keough is playing the title character, Daisy Jones, a singer-songwriter with a messy family life who becomes a superstar in the 1970’s Los Angeles music scene. Keough is also set to star in another Amazon series, The Terminal List, opposite Chris Pratt, Constance Wu, and Taylor Kitsch.

Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne
Best known as Finnick Odair from The Hunger Games series, Claflin will play Billy Dunne, the charismatic lead singer of The Six. Camila Morrone as Camila
Morrone is set to play Camila, who takes the “girlfriend” trope and gives it a new, powerful spin. Camila starts out as the devoted girlfriend of singer Billy Dunne, but as she follows him for years in pursuit of his musical dreams, she discovers her own sense of self. Morrone may be one of the lesser-known names in the cast, with films like Death Wish and Mickey and the Bear on her resume.

Nabiyah Be as Simone Jackson
An actress and musician herself, Be plays Simone, Daisy’s best friend who winds up right at the forefront of the developing L.A. disco scene. You might recognise Be from her role as Killmonger’s ill-fated girlfriend Linda in Black Panther. She also has an extensive stage career, including Hadestown and School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play.

Josh Whitehouse as Eddie Roundtree
Whitehouse will play Eddie, The Six’s fiery bassist who has a bit of an attitude about being “second best” and being in someone else’s band rather than leading his own. Fans of Christmas rom-coms will definitely recognise Whitehouse as Sir Cole from the Netflix movie The Knight Before Christmas. He also had an arc on Poldark and was cast in the unproduced Game of Thrones prequel series.

Suki Waterhouse as Karen Sirko
As the lone woman performing in The Six, keyboardist Karen makes her own mark on the male-dominated band. Waterhouse has been working steadily for several years, with roles in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Detective Pikachu, The White Princess, The Broken Hearts Gallery, and more. She’s also set to appear in the upcoming adaptation of Persuasion, alongside Dakota Johnson, Henry Golding, and Cosmo Jarvis.
