The fourth season was everything we expected and more, and now Netflix has confirmed there will indeed be a fifth season of Cobra Kai. With filming already wrapped, fans should expect a release date announcement any day now.
Season 4 was just recently released on December 31, with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) working together in the All Valley Tournament towards the final few episodes. After hearing the quote, “Cobra Kai never dies”, the phrase proves to be true as viewers witness incredible martial art scenes and also characters who returned from the Karate Kid Trilogy.
Speaking to Decider, co-creators of the show Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg confirmed that there will be another season, saying: “There are still many twists and turns and crowd-pleasing moments to be had before we reach the endgame that we’ve been planning since the beginning,” they said. “We can’t go into too much detail about plans beyond Season 4, except to say that there is definitely a lot more story left to tell in the Karate Kid/Cobra Kai universe.”
To add to the above, back in November Hurwitz took to Twitter and revealed that at the time, they were working on Season 5. Cast members expected to return are Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso), William Zabala (Johnny Lawrence), Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Jacob Bertrand (Eli Moskowitz/Hawk), Martin Kove (John Kreese) and Peyton List (Tory Nichols).
Unfortunately, while Netflix hasn’t yet announced the premiere date for Season 5, it is predicted to hit the streaming service sometime in 2023, which if you’re bad at math, is a long way away.
In the meantime, we have four seasons to rewatch and binge through, so if you can’t reach us, you know what we’re up to.
