Cher and Alexander Edwards have reportedly called it quits after six months of dating. On May 1, E! News confirmed that the pair had broken up a few weeks ago, but the split was supposedly amicable. Reps for Cher did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment, and Edwards’s reps could not be reached. TMZ, who was the first to break the news, reported via sources that the pair were never actually engaged, despite rumors that swirled in December after Cher showed off a massive diamond ring on social media.
The 76-year-old pop star and 37-year-old music executive and rapper were first linked back in November when they were spotted out at dinner with Tyga in Los Angeles. Cher then confirmed their relationship days later when she tweeted a photo of Edwards captioned, “Alexander♥️.”
It wasn’t long before engagement rumors began swirling the following month, as Cher shared a snap of a diamond ring on Twitter. “THERE R NO WORDS. ALEXANDER,A.E,” she wrote in her characteristic all-caps style on Christmas Day. On New Year’s Day, the singer posted another photo with her ring on full display.
In recent months, Cher and Edwards were spotted out at a Super Bowl party in February. The outing took place just a few weeks before their red carpet debut as a couple at the Versace fall 2023 fashion show in Los Angeles on March 9.
Edwards and Cher’s romance raised eyebrows among some who questioned their age gap and thought the latter was being taken advantage of. However, Cher addressed those concerns during a Dec. 2 appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” saying, “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous. But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
Cher was previously linked to former Hells Angels biker Tim Medvetz before they reportedly split back in 2013. She was also famously married to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman. Edwards, on the other hand, dated Amber Rose, with whom he shares son Slash Electric Alexander Edwards. The two were together from 2018 to 2021.
