Cardi B got the ultimate princess treatment during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. After leaving the Gaurav Gupta show on July 6, the rapper traversed the last few stretches from the car to her hotel via security guard, smiling contently and wrapping her hands around his neck as he carried her inside (silver platforms long-since kicked off). Cardi’s happy grin and bare feet brought back a wave of nostalgia, as well as a single question: Where were these security guards when we were stumbling around the club with our own shoes off?
In all fairness, Cardi has been at it for days, wearing multiple designer outfits a day for the entirety of the week. She strutted around the streets of Paris in pointed-toe pumps, sequin boots, bejeweled heels, and strappy sandals – we already know her feet were hurting. The real takeaway here is to normalize asking for a little help. We want to see celebrities being carried in and out of award shows (so long as the fashion calls for it). In fact, why not get carried all the way down the red carpet à la Billy Porter at the Met Gala?
Whether tuckered out from an exhausting fashion week schedule, or merely attempting to make a graceful exit after last call, everyone could use a little help from time to time. We can’t all be Cardi B getting scooped up by a security guard, but we can certainly put ourselves in her shoes . . . and it feels amazing.
