Morrone’s relationship with DiCaprio raised eyebrows due to their 23-year age gap. Morrone was 20 years old when she was first romantically linked with the then-43-year-old “Don’t Look Up” star in December 2017. It all started when DiCaprio was photographed leaving Morrone’s Los Angeles home that month, in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
In January 2018, the two further fueled dating rumors when People reported they spent the holidays together in Colorado. After keeping their first few dates low-key, the pair reportedly took their relationship to the next level by attending Ellen DeGeneres‘s star-studded 60th birthday party together that February, per People. And things only continued to heat up that April when they were photographed getting cozy at Coachella, via E! News.
Then, just weeks after the couple went on a yacht trip with Morrone’s mom, Lucila Solá, in July 2018, a source reportedly told Us Weekly in August 2018 that Morrone and DiCaprio’s relationship was getting so “serious” that “they’ve talked about getting engaged” and starting a family together. “He’s ready to have kids,” the source said at the time, adding that Morrone was on the same page. “She loves having little kids around and wants to have kids with Leo but she wants to get married to him first. She’s very traditional in that way.”
Even though the couple didn’t get engaged, the pair seemed totally in love. In July 2019, Morrone alluded to her relationship with DiCaprio on Instagram by posting a photo of film stars Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, who found love despite having a 25-year age gap. “A love like this,” she captioned the shot.
After receiving backlash for the photo, Morrone shared a video on her Instagram Story shutting down critics of her and DiCaprio’s relationship. “People are so mean and full of anger with people that they know nothing about,” she said. “I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interests elsewhere because living without hatred feels pretty good.”
She defended her and DiCaprio’s relationship again that December in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “There’s so many relationships in Hollywood – and in the history of the world – where people have large age gaps,” she said. “I just think anyone should be able to date who they want to date.”
In February 2020, Morrone and DiCaprio marked another major milestone when they attended the Oscars together. Although they didn’t walk the red carpet together, they did sit beside each other during the event, which marked the first time in 15 years that DiCaprio had brought a girlfriend to the Oscars. That December, they only became closer by officially moving in together, per E! News.
In November 2021, a source told the outlet that the couple were “really solid” and “everything [was] great” between them. However, months later, in August 2022, the stars split after four years together.
Morrone hasn’t appeared to have dated anyone publicly since her breakup with DiCaprio.
