Netflix’s New Show Byron Baes Might Just Be The Hills Replacement We’ve Been Craving

With so many Hollywood celebrities flocking to the pristine beaches and exclusive boutiques of Byron Bay, it was probably only a matter of time before the chic little haven became a star in its own right. 

Now set to be the locale for a tantalising reality show, audiences will be treated to a front-row seat into the lives of some of Byron’s more glamourous residents by way of a hotly anticipated series Byron Baes. 

The show will air on Netflix with the streamer giving some exciting details in a press statement. 

“It’s not just Chris and Zac’s backyard, it’s the playground of more celebrity-adjacent-adjacent influencers than you can poke a selfie stick at,” the release reads. 

“But PLOT TWIST: Don’t write these Baes off too quickly. There’ll be fights, flings and heartbreak; but beneath every perfect post is a very real desire not just for ‘likes’, but to be liked, dammit, for who you are.” Relatable.

Byron Baes will centre around a group of Instagram influencers “living their best lives, and being their best selves” while doing what they do best — creating content. 

The series is being produced by Eureka Productions with Co-CEO Chris Culvenor saying, “With a compelling cast, spectacular settings and some truly addictive drama, Byron Baes has all the binge-worthy ingredients. Eureka is thrilled to be working with Netflix on this love letter to one of the world’s most perfect playgrounds.”

So, who are the Instagrammers that will be heating up our screens when the series debuts? That we don’t yet know but Sydney Morning Herald has suggested that former The Block winner Elyse Knowles — who boats nearly 900,000 Instagram followers — could be one of the cast members. 

Byron Baes could be just the thing to fill the voids in our hearts that have remained unoccupied since The Hills went off the air in 2010. Yes, we know the series then made a comeback in 2019 but let’s be real — without Lauren Conrad who are we kidding?
