If you thought The Bachelorette was the last time you saw Brooke Blurton on your television screen then think again. No, she’s not entering into another reality show, instead, she’ll be making a guest appearance on Neighbours!
Taking to Instagram to announce the exciting news, Brooke shared a photo of herself beaming from ear to ear under a LED Neighbours sign.
“Looks like some questionable acting with a wine and washing basket can land you a gig on Neighbours ✨ ” she wrote in the caption.
“Coming soon to you ? My mum and nan would be very proud! ?”
Her followers couldn’t be more excited, commenting “How exciting!” and “Bring on Ramsay Street!” Some even said they’re going to tune in just for her, with one fan saying: “OH MY GOD!!! Well I’m going to go back to watching Neighbours now.”
A spokesperson from Network 10 confirmed Brooke’s role in a statement, saying the episode in which she stars will air in a few months.
“She will be appearing as herself as a guest at one of the Fashion Festival events in an upcoming storyline,” they said.
“Brooke will appear in scenes with Neighbours legends Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Stefan Dennis, Ryan Moloney, Rebekah Elmaloglou and Lucinda Cowden.”
On Thursday, producers of the long-running soap confirmed it will be filming its final episodes in June after a 37-year run. Rumours of the show’s cancellation had been circulating for weeks, and despite fans hoping for a different outcome, the news was announced in a statement on Twitter.
“We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9000 episodes broadcast we have to confirm that Neighbours will cease production in June,” the tweet read. “Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.”
In February, Britain’s Channel 5 said it will be dropping Neighbours from its line-up, and while the show airs on Network Ten in Australia, it is understood the UK network contributed towards the majority of the show’s production costs.
The reaction from fans has been extraordinary, with a spokesperson from Fremantle Media acknowledging the support.
“Everyone at Neighbours has been overwhelmed by the love and support from the audience since the news came out,” they said.
“The show has brought a sunny slice of Australia into the homes of millions of viewers around the world, launching the careers of dozens of household names along way.
“But as this chapter of Ramsay Street comes to a close, we promise to do everything we can to give the show the send-off it deserves.”
