Lady Whistledown is Sharpening Her Knives in the Latest Trailer for Bridgerton Season 2
Lady Whistledown is back and if you thought she was tough in season one of Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton, then you should prepare yourself for season two because things are about to get heated.
The streaming service dropped the official trailer for the second season of the period drama, where fans hear Lady Whistledown say: “I’ve been sharpening my knives — for all of you.”
The upcoming instalment will follow the eldest Bridgerton brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), who is searching for a suitable wife (which basically means the perfect viscountess, but someone he isn’t in love with).
His sights are set on newcomer Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), but her overprotective sister Kate (Simone Ashley) has a bad feeling about Anthony from the get-go.
On the other end, Anthony’s siblings are navigating their own tumultuous lives. Benedict (Luke Thompson) is making his way through the art world, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) enters society and Colin (Luke Newton) returns from his travels as a changed man.
Of course, Lady Whistledown is as powerful as ever, but the woman behind her, Penelope Fetherington (Nicola Coughlan) is struggling to keep her identity under wraps.
“The main theme of season 2 is head versus heart,” creator Chris Van Dusen previously told EW. “It’s true for Anthony and Kate, and it’s also true for Penelope. Her heart is with Lady Whistledown, but even she has to wonder if being London’s most notorious gossip writer is the wisest thing.”
The series also stars Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs Varley), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Shelley Conn (Mary Sharma), Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Basset), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Calam Lynch (Theo Sharpe), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington) and Rupert Young (Jack).
The Shonda Rhimes-produced TV series is set to return to Netflix on March 25. The show is based on Julia Quinn’s novels of the same name.
