The silly season is almost upon us. While the idea of endless parties, cocktails, food and merriment is a welcome one after yet another arduous year, so is the idea of just chilling the heck out with some quality streaming.
BINGE has definitely got you covered in that area with a slew of supremely watchable content that will have you petitioning the post office (and Uber Eats) to make your sofa your official address.
December on the streamer will mark the return of the Gossip Girl reboot and this, in turn, marks the return of our true lord and saviour Georgina Sparks (we are not worthy!), a new Aussie comedy that will have you in stitches and the latest season of a DC favourite. Without further ado, let’s check out what to watch on BINGE as we prepare to say adios to 2022.
Love, Lizzo, November 25
Okay, so this one debuts in November but our girl Lizzo could not be excluded from this list!
This documentary shares the inspirational story behind three-time Grammy winner Lizzo’s humble beginnings to her meteoric rise with an intimate look into the moments that shaped her hard-earned rise to fame, success, love and international stardom.
Colin from Accounts, December 1
Let’s hear it for some good old Aussie comedy. Colin from Accounts stars Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer in this heartwarming new series about two complex humans who are brought together by a car accident and an injured dog. A celebration of flawed, funny people choosing each other and being brave enough to show their true self as they navigate life together, all eight episodes of Colin from Accounts drop at once and we can guarantee you will want to watch them in one sitting.
Gossip Girl — Season 2, December 1
You know you love her (or, as is the case in this reboot – them), so Gossip Girl is back for another season of sexy madness on the Upper East Side.
The second season of the glossy series centres on the second semester of Junior year, and Gossip Girl is leaving no stone unturned in her effort to control/spin the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite. She’s learned a thing or two from her first go-round – namely what her audience wants, they shall get.
Evidently, series creator Joshua Safran knows what the audience wants too because Queen of Chaos Georgina Sparks (Michelle Trachtenberg) will be making a comeback. Mark your calendars accordingly, people, because it’s about to go down.
Doom Patrol — Season 3, December 8
Popular DC series Doom Patrol will premiere its fourth season on December 9 with a double episode. The season continues with new episodes dropping weekly through January 5.
For the uninitiated, the series reimagines one of DC’s most beloved groups of superheroes, all of whom have suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities, but also left them scarred and disfigured. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.
Season Four opens with the team unexpectedly travelling to the future to find an unwelcome surprise. Faced with their imminent demise, the Doom Patrol must decide once and for all which is more important: their own happiness or the fate of the world?
The Last of Us, January 16, 2023
Looking ahead into 2023, we can look forward to the American post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us, starring Game of Thrones alum Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal who you might recognise from Wonder Woman 1984. Aussie actress Anna Torv also stars alongside The White Lotus scene stealer Murray Bartlett.
Based on one of the world’s most popular video games, The Last of Us, the story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
