HOO BOY!!! What an absolutely wild ride from start to finish! Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water is back with a vengeance and tonight, the players were out for BLOOD.
Tonight’s Tribal Council had us on the edge of our seats as we waited to see how it all played out.
After the Red tribe lost the immunity challenge, we got to see the players start to play, play, play, play, play. But with a target on her back, would Queen Sandra be able to shake it off, shake it off? (Sorry! We had to.)
Still feeling the sting of finding out that his daughter Briana was eliminated at the last Tribal Council, Dave’s coming in guns blazing and pointed at the one, the only, Sandra Diaz-Twine. He’s ready to fight! Dave’s plan is to split the vote on Sandra and Kate, Andy’s sister.
Sandra, knowing she has a target on her back from the sheer size of her reputation, plays it cool and waits for the alpha males to come to her, because they “always do”. And they do! Ben comes over, and he’s like “I don’t want to play with Dave, I want to play with you,” and Sandra’s like “love this for me”. They decide that blindsiding Dave is the way to go.
However! When Sam catches wind of this plan, she’s like ‘absolutely not’. She tries to rally the troops to stick to the plan of voting Sandra, and that’s where things are as we head into Tribal.
This is where it all goes wild.
See, no one spoke to Kate, and this was Sam and co’s undoing, because the second Tribal starts, Kate says she feels like she’s on the chopping block, because “if you’re not part of the plan, you are the plan”.
Host Jonathan LaPaglia asks Sam for her thoughts, and she says that there were “so many plans” and that it was all a bit chaotic back at camp because no one had been talking strategy up until then.
Next thing you know, Dave’s out here fighting for his life and coming for Sam’s neck. He calls her a “social butterfly” and says that “she flits from person to person”, implying that she’s disloyal and untrustworthy.
Sam’s like:
And Sandra’s like:
But Dave’s not done yet!
“I know there’s convos that were specifically about me,” he says, “and ‘blindside Juicy Dave’ has a good ring to it”.
Sam’s SHOOK. She’s like “I can’t believe it, Dave, I thought we were so close… I have NEVER said your name.”
Sam gets everyone to back her up and to tell Dave that she was never gunning for him, but rather, that she was rallying for him.
They do, and Dave’s like “then why were there so many PLANS?!?!” and she’s like “BECAUSE YOU WERE ONE OF THEM AND I WAS TRYING TO SAVE YOU?????” and Dave’s like “oh. Oopsie. My bad. Can we move forward, or?????”
Meanwhile, the rest of the tribe are like Amy, here:
Alas, once you start digging your own grave like that, it’s hard to pull yourself back out, and Dave’s apology to Sam doesn’t quite cut it. Alexa, play “Too Little, Too Late by JoJo”!
So we’re mid-tribal, and Sam’s alliance has flipped. Sandra’s off the chopping block, and now Sandra’s alliance and Sam’s alliance are both gunning for Dave. It’s curtains for him! OR IS IT?!
It’s time to vote.
During the votes, we see Sandra vote Dave, Dave vote Kate and then we see Sam take about an HOUR to decide that she’s going to vote SANDRA(!!!), calling it “collateral damage” in case Dave AND Kate have idols.
And ONE OF THEM DOES! Dave, smartly, whips out the Immunity Idol he scored at the reward challenge, fending off the EIGHT votes he copped from both alliances. Brutal!
With Sam’s alliance sticking to the plan to split the vote, Kate cops three votes, Sandra gets Kate’s collateral damage vote, and Kate goes home.
WHEW! Queen stays queen, for another day, at least!
It should come as no surprise that Twitter was absolutely LIT UP over the shenanigans of tonight’s Tribal Council, so here are some of our favourite tweets about the whole thing. Enjoy!
