Australian Survivor: Sam Frost’s Ex, Jay Bruno, Gets Blindsided By Sandra
Australian Survivor: Blood Vs. Water is in full swing, and things are getting truly hectic.
The day after Alex Frost was forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury, his Blood Vs. Water partner, Jay Bruno, has been given the boot in a blindside for the ages.
Alex and Jay had signed on to do the Blood Vs. Water season together, with their connection being Sam Frost, Home and Away actress, former Bachelorette and vocal anti-vaxxer.
The Blood Vs. Water premise sees the contestants sign up with a loved one, only to have them play against one another. Alex landed on the Blue tribe, where he injured his back and was forced last night to pull out of the competition, while Jay ended up on the Red tribe, where he was blindsided tonight by the queen of Survivor herself, Sandra Diaz-Twine.
At the time of filming, Jay was dating Sam and went on the show with Alex, Sam’s younger brother as his de-facto brother-in-law. Only thing is, Sam and Jay actually broke up at the beginning of November 2021. Awkies!!!
There were rumours that the Sam and Jay split because Sam’s stance on vaccines “drove a wedge” between them, but in a recent interview, Jay said that actually, the relationship “just didn’t work”.
“It is pretty simple, I just guess I couldn’t see a future with her,” Jay told Sydney Confidential.
“It is never easy to stay friends with someone you dated and I broke up with her so I think it would be unfair for me to hover around and confuse her.
“I have kept my distance. It is obviously hard because you feel for the other person but people just break up sometimes and I didn’t want to lead her on so I have moved on.”
Jay had no regrets about his decision to join Australian Survivor with Alex, though, explaining: “I had to have someone that was close to family and at the time he was”.
“It did add an exciting element [being there together] as we didn’t know what was going to happen. It made it a bit more surprising and fun,” he added.
Of course, when it comes to Survivor, there’s nothing more surprising than when you get blindsided at Tribal Council, and that’s exactly what happened tonight.
Here’s how it happened.
After losing the Immunity Challenge, the Red tribe headed back to camp to figure out who was going home that night.
Sandra — convinced that Dave wrote her name down at Red’s first Tribal Council — was gunning for him, and had Michelle and Sam onside.
Sandra, babe, the call is coming from inside the house! It was SAM that wrote her name down, but that’s beside the point… for now, at least.
Sam, still mad about Dave flipping on her at Tribal and outing her as a “social butterfly”, was more than happy to team up with Sandra to get him out. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all of that.
Meanwhile, Amy and Dave were gunning for Sandra.
Concerned about the repercussions of taking a shot at the queen, Amy went Idol hunting, and found one. Only problem? Michelle saw her find it.
Michelle told Sandra, and they quickly hatched a new plan: Forget Dave, split the votes on Jay and Amy 4:3, and get Amy to flush her idol.
In need of numbers, they pitched their plan to the alpha males, Ben, Croc, and Jordan, who was a little iffy on this plan. He told Amy to play her idol, which surprised her, since she hadn’t told anyone she actually had an idol.
It was enough to spook her into playing it, though, and eventually, all three alpha males, after losing Sophie from their alliance earlier this week, fell in line with the Queen and voted as instructed, sending Jay packing.
Will Sandra discover the truth about Sam’s vote? Will Amy survive to tell the tale of taking a shot at the Queen and missing? Only time will tell.
Australian Survivor airs at 7.30pm, Sundays and Mondays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
