Sure, it’s only been one episode, but we must confess: we’re obsessed with Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water castaway Chrissy Zaremba, who absolutely stole the show tonight.
It’s rare that we meet a castaway who seemingly has absolutely no idea what they’ve gotten themselves into, but tbh, it’s a lot of fun to watch???
Chrissy, 42, has signed up to compete alongside (or against, as the case may be) Croc, her brother-in-law, an ex-NRL player.
A “full-time mummy, part-time teacher” from the Sunshine Coast, Chrissy joked in her promo that she was most excited to be “getting a break from [her] kids” by escaping to the brutal landscape of Charter Towers to film Survivor.
As the tribes left their first reward challenge and headed back to their camps for the first time, reality seemed to sink in for dear Chrissy.
“I am in a world of trouble,” she said. “I’m so underprepared it’s not funny.
“My fake tan’s coming off, I have terrible footwear, I don’t like the outdoors. I don’t really like sand, and dirt, and water…” she mused, adding, “see now that I’m saying this out loud it’s making me question what I’m doing! But, here I am!”

Planning to rely on her brother-in-law’s physical strength, Chrissy was “gutted” to realise she would be competing against him, with Chrissy on the Water tribe, and Croc on the Blood tribe.
“47 days out here, this is ridiculous!” she exclaimed. “What am I, Bear Grylls?!”
“I don’t wanna eat 4-bean mix out of a can, I don’t wanna eat rice, I’ve seen the show,” Chrissy proclaimed, telling her tribe mates that if it was up to her, she’d have a big jug of ice-cold cordial set up for them all to enjoy.
Chrissy had planned to rely on her social game, and figure it out as she went along. Instead, she was well and truly thrown into the deep end of the Survivor waters when–in the space of her first episode–she:
- Found a clue to a hidden immunity idol
- Had her name thrown out in Tribal Council discussions, after underperforming in the Immunity Challenge
- Beat Brianna to the punch in grabbing the aforementioned idol, which was located in front of everyone at Tribal Council (or, as Chrissy called it, “Tribunal Council”)
- Flushed her own idol, thinking the target was on her (it was not.)
Twitter’s been having an absolute field day reacting to Chrissy, so, here’s a collection of “Chrissy doesn’t understand what’s going on” tweets. Enjoy!
