Watch out! This post contains spoilers.
“Ahsoka” is well underway on Disney+. The show, which premiered on Aug. 23, has been highly anticipated among fans because it picks up the story of Ahsoka and the rest of the Ghost crew following the events of “Star Wars Rebels.” The animated series ran for four seasons from October 2014 to March 2018, and took place during the years just before “A New Hope.” Since it ended on a major cliffhanger, viewers hoped the show’s finale wouldn’t be the last time they’d see their favorite “Rebels” characters.
After years of waiting, Ahsoka finally returned during the second season of “The Mandalorian.” In her first episode, titled “The Jedi,” we learned that she’s been searching for the legendary Grand Admiral Thrawn. Since “Rebels” ends with Thrawn and the Jedi Ezra Bridger disappearing into hyperspace, “The Mandalorian” teased Ahsoka is searching for the blue-skinned villain in hopes that he could lead her to her lost friend. Now that “Ahsoka” is here, we know her mission isn’t just about reuniting with Ezra but also preventing Thrawn from starting an all-out war.
Ahead, find a character guide of everyone you should know in “Ahsoka,” from members of the Ghost crew to all of the villains they’re up against.

Who Is Ahsoka?
Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is the former Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen). They had a brother-sister relationship and often worked together with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). During “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” Ahsoka is expelled from the Jedi Order after being framed for a crime she didn’t commit. She later clears her name and is asked to return to the Order, however, Ahsoka chooses to leave after feeling betrayed by the Jedi. Although being on her own helps Ahsoka discover herself, we learn during the events of “Rebels” that she also feels guilty for leaving the Order since she wasn’t there to stop Anakin from turning into Darth Vader. Since Ezra once saved Ahsoka from Vader, it seems she now wants to return the favor by saving him from Thrawn.
Who Is Hera Syndulla?
Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is a Twi’lek from the planet Ryloth. She’s the daughter of the freedom fighter Cham Syndulla, who fought against the Separatists during the Clone Wars. Similar to her father, Hera fights to protect the galaxy as a New Republic general. She is also the pilot of the Ghost and serves as a mother figure to members of the crew, including Ezra and Sabine. Hera also has a son named Jacen, whom she welcomed with the late Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus in “Rebels.”
In “Ahsoka,” Hera aids Ahsoka and Sabine in finding Ezra and stopping Thrawn from coming back into power, all while balancing her place as a general in the Republic.
Who Is Sabine Wren?
Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) is a Mandalorian warrior who was once the owner of the darksaber before she gave it away to Bo-Katan. She used to be a cadet at the Imperial Academy of Mandalore, but after realizing that her inventions were being used for evil by the Empire, Sabine leaves her home planet to become a bounty hunter. After meeting Hera and Kanan, Sabine becomes a member of the Ghost crew and fights the Empire alongside the Rebel Alliance.
Sometime after Ezra’s disappearance, Ahsoka began training Sabine to become a Jedi. However, she walked away from her apprentice before they could finish their training. The pair reunite in “Ahsoka” to look for Ezra, and Ahsoka promises to train Sabine (though their early efforts don’t go well). Sabine also carried immense guilt about what happened to Mandalore.
Who Is Chopper?
Chopper (Dave Filoni) is an astromech droid who’s also part of the Ghost crew. Hera found him on Ryloth when she was a kid, and they’ve been loyal companions ever since. Chopper is responsible for helping maintain the Ghost but also helps the team with combat on missions.
Who Is Ezra Bridger?
Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) is a Jedi who was once Kanan’s apprentice. After losing his parents to the Empire, Ezra was forced to make a living as a con artist on Lothal. He eventually joins the Ghost crew and discovers that he’s Force sensitive. His powers allow him to connect with space whales known as the purrgil. Ezra is able to stop Thrawn at the end of “Rebels” by calling upon the purrgil to send them both into hyperspace during the Battle of Lothal.
Who Is Grand Admiral Thrawn?
Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) is a high-ranking Imperial officer who’s known for being ruthless, cunning, and manipulative. He rises to power after demonstrating his skills as a brilliant tactician for the Empire. At the end of “Rebels,” Thrawn and his ship, known as the Chimaera, go missing after Ezra sends them both into hyperspace. In the third season of “The Mandalorian,” it’s revealed that a group of Imperial leaders are looking for Thrawn in hopes he’ll help bring the resurgence of the Empire.
Who Is Morgan Elsbeth?
Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) is the former Magistrate of Calodan. During the second season of “The Mandalorian,” Morgan hires Din Djarin to kill Ahsoka, but they team up to take her down instead. After the fight, Ahsoka demands Morgan reveal Thrawn’s location. Morgan is then arrested for being an Imperial sympathizer.
In “Ahsoka,” Morgan works with Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati to prevent Ahsoka from reaching Thrawn, and they’re intent on getting to him first. Elsbeth comes from a coven of Force-sensitive witches known as the Nightsisters. Most of the Nightsisters were killed during the Clone Wars, but Elsbeth intends to rebuild their order.
Who Is Baylan Skoll?
Baylan Skoll (played by the late Ray Stevenson) is a Jedi who survived Order 66, but instead of becoming a rebel like Ahsoka, Baylan chooses to become a mercenary and use his skills for evil along with his apprentice, Shin Hati. Since they’re in search of great power, Baylan and Shin team up with Morgan to hunt down Ahsoka in order to get closer to Thrawn. Baylan technically isn’t a Sith, but a Dark Jedi.
Who Is Shin Hati?
Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) is Baylan’s apprentice and a Dark Force user. Her master orders her to track down Ahsoka and prevent her from locating Thrawn. “Shin is quite an intense and ambitious Force-wielder,” Sakhno told Entertainment Weekly on May 31. “She is very skilled in lightsaber combat.” The star also teased that “Ahsoka” will explain why her character chooses to follow the dark side. “I hope that despite her darkness of a character, we’re able to also expand our understanding of that darkness within someone and the reason behind it,” Sakhno said. She and Sabine have already faced off multiple times, making fans wonder if they’ll ultimately have a deeper connection.
Who Is Huyang?
Huyang (voiced by David Tennant) is a lightsaber-crafting droid that served the Jedi for thousands of years. That’s given him a lot of knowledge of Jedi’s ways and methods (though he’s not a Jedi himself). In “Ahsoka,” he is Ahsoka’s main help, though it’s unclear how they reconnected again.
Who Is Jacen Syndulla?
Jacen Syndulla (Evan Whitten) is the half-human, half-Twi’lek son of Hera and the late Jedi Kanan Jarrus. He wants to become a Jedi like his dad, though it’s unclear if Hera wants him to train to be one. But he definitely has a pretty strong Force sensitivity, which helps Hera and co. locate Ahsoka in episode five.
Who Is Captain Carson Teva?
Captain Carson Teva (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) is familiar to “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” fans since he’s popped up in both shows. He’s a captain in the Republic who’s dedicated to the new system. He’s originally from Alderaan (Princess Leia’s home world destroyed by the Death Star).
How Is Anakin Skywalker in "Ahsoka"?
At the end of episode four, Ahsoka falls into the ocean, and it takes her to the mystical plane known as the World Between Worlds. There, she sees Anakin, her former master again. He tells her that he has one final lesson to teach her, and he takes her back into the past to the Clone Wars. He talks about how he had to teach her to be a warrior because she was a padawan during the Clone Wars, and he talks about how everything he was he gave to her, but ultimately, he still failed her by turning to the Dark Side. But Anakin’s lesson for her is that she’s not just a warrior, she is truly a Jedi, because a Jedi always chooses life.
Some fans think Ahsoka wasn’t really in the World Between Worlds, and their interactions took place within her own mind. Also, though other dead Jedi have appeared as Force Ghosts (including most recently Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn in “Obi-Wan Kenobi), they usually have a more ethereal, ghostly quality than Anakin does here.
Who Is Young Ahsoka?
In the scenes where Anakin and Ahsoka revisit the Clone Wars, Ahsoka is played by Ariana Greenblatt, who you might remember from this fall’s “Barbie” movie. Greenblatt embodies the youthful exuberance – and pain – of Ahsoka during that time. And fun fact: She also played young Gamora in “Avengers: Infinity War.”
